Green Schools; Clean environment; Healthier Life Green Project School Name “Shefki Mucllari” Region Pogradec Green Project Title: Greening and Improving the School Garden Green Project timelines: 11/2014 – 31/12/2014 Project Summary This project seeked to improve the school appearance and its environmental performance with the aim of giving a new identity to the school, raising awareness about the importance of being surrounded by a green and healthy environment and thus improving the quality of every day performance in the school and life. The project focused mainly on the renovation of the school facade, wall and garden structures, greening of the garden which was plant and tree-poor, placing waste bins and increasing student’s awareness regarding environmental issues and the importance of a green and healthy environment. Green Project objectives 1) Creating a green, clean, healthy and beautiful school garden 2) Renovating the school walls and painting the facade to improve its appearance 3) Increasing students environmental awareness and responsibility to keep the environment clean Problem addressed and why? The problem consisted in the lack of green spaces in the school, lack of a clean and healthy school image as well as lack of environmental awareness among the students. Addressing these gaps was really important in order to create not only a better school-life quality and image for the students but at the same time for educating them with more respect and consideration towards a greener and cleaner environment and its health benefits. Therefore the activities of this project were considered as a good example for giving students, teachers and the local community a better perception on the importance of green and clean 1
