What will we be learning?

English: We will be exploring narrative and other genres of writing through the book - Leon and the Space Between. We will continue to improve our SPaG knowledge, skills and understanding, in particular: descriptive writing, fronted adverbials and conjunctions, expanded noun phrases and using speech correctly…and so much more!

Maths: We will be able to:

• Mentally calculate percentages of amounts. • Use a pair of compasses, ruler and protractor to draw triangles.

We will know: • How to find fractions of amounts.

Remember to continue helping your child with times tables – they need to know all multiplications up to 12 x 12 and the corresponding division facts by July!

• Rivers and why they were important to ancient civilisations • Daily life in ancient Egypt • The different rulers of Egypt • Ancient Egyptian religion and burials • The treasures discovered in Tutankhamun’s tomb • Ancient Sumer

For our project this term, please send your child in with a plastic bottle for them to use to create a canopic jar! One per child is plenty! PE Kits School PE uniform is black shorts (or tracksuit bottoms) with a white t-shirt. PE kits should be in school at all times. Dates of Project Homelearning: We will be giving out homelearning on w/c 24th April – to research the pyramids of Egypt. This will be due in on Friday 5th May. The second homelearning will be set w/c 8th May and will be due in on Friday 19th May. This will be to create a fact-file or poster or leaflet on a chosen God or Ancient Egyptian ruler. Entry Point: w.c Monday 17th April 2017 We will all become archaeologists! I wonder what treasures we will find in the school grounds?! Trips: British Museum to see the mummies and have an exciting workshop!
