The 2014 Great Plains Hot Air Balloon Race: The 39 th annual Great Plains Hot Air Balloon Race will be happening here in Sioux Falls August 15 th -17 th and will take place at Kenny Anderson Park - 3903 E 3rd Street in Sioux Falls. This is South Dakota’s only hot air balloon event and will attract up to 25 balloons and pilots from Sioux Falls and surrounding states. Bring out your friends and family for a fun-filled event! We have several local area balloon sponsors that help make this event happen. This year’s main event on Saturday will support Children’s Miracle Network and donations will be made on their behalf. There will be raffle tickets available for purchase at a cost of $5 each. The raffle ticket gives you a chance to win a Hot Air Balloon ride, which will be given at a later date. (*Maximum of 4 total rides awarded and all proceeds to benefit the CMN.) Raffle tickets will be available at all events. The pilots will be racing to an undisclosed target. (Tentative) Balloon Glow 8:30-9:30 pm (If Saturday’s weather looks compromised , the glow will be held Friday evening. If Saturday’s weather holds, there will NOT be a Glow this evening.) Saturday, August 16 th : Balloon Launch Kenny Anderson Park 6:00 am Start out your day with a beautiful view! Close to 25 balloons will ascend from the park- don’t forget your cameras. Balloon Race Kenny Anderson Park 6:00 pm Balloons will launch from various areas throughout Sioux Falls with the target being placed at Kenny Anderson Park. There will be music and DJ for a play-by-play entertainment for you as well. Come on out to cheer the pilots on! Balloon Glow 8:30-9:30 pm (If Saturday’s weather looks compromised, the glow will move to Friday evening.) Join us to see the beautiful display of balloons light up the night sky!
