2014 Great Neusiok District Spring Fishing Derby RulesDate: Saturday, May 10, 2014Check-in - 8:00a. to 8:30a.Fishing - 8:30a. to 12:00p.

Awards - After all catches are weighed and the results are tabulated.

Official Fishing Derby Rules:

We will sound an air horn at the start of fishing (8:30a.), when the first fish arrives at the weigh-in, and at the end of fishing(12:00p.)

1) There must be a parent or guardian at “arms length” with each Cub Scout.

2) Only registered Cub Scouts are allowed to fish during the derby. Fishing by adults, siblings, or other guests is notpermitted.

3) This event will be live or natural bait only, no artificial lures. (We will not have bait for sale, so please bring yourown.)

4) Any type of hook and line are allowed (cane pole, rod & reel, etc.), but no nets or traps of any kind. (Other thanlanding nets).

5) Multiple lines are OK, but please limit it to 2 per Scout.

6) The Cubs must hook and land their own fish. Casting for the younger boys is allowed, but no further assistance isallowed until the fish is out of the water at the shore. An adult should unhook the fish (unless the Scout is able todo it himself), and may help to get the fish to the weigh-in.

7) This is a catch and release event. There will be a 50% weight penalty for dead fish, so please bring a bucket,cooler or something similar to use as a “live well”.

8) Non-fish catches may be brought to the weigh-in for consideration for Ugliest Catch, but will not be weighed.

9) Fish can be weighed in at any time after the start of the event (8:30a.) Weigh-in will end after the last Scout inline at 12:00p.m. has weighed, so please do not be late! (Hint: After the first fish is weighed, there is no

advantage to bringing each fish to the shelter individually.) 

10) No vehicles allowed in the fishing area without prior approval for medical reasons.

11) The boys may fish anywhere on camp with the exception of within or near the swimming area (Waterfront).

12) No fishing will be allowed after 12:00p.

No fishing licenses are required for registered Cub Scouts. Each Cub can work towards the Fishing Belt Loop andPin.

Awards will be given for First Fish, Most Fish, Largest Fish, Smallest Fish, Heaviest Stringer (1st, 2nd and 3rd),Ugliest Fish, and each participant will receive an event patch.

Concessions will be available for purchase all day. (Breakfast items & coffee early, and hot dogs, chips and softdrinks for lunch).

Please complete registration (by May 2nd) for planning purposes so we can assure that we have enough hot dogs,drinks, etc. for everyone.

2014 Great Neusiok District Cub Scout Fishing Derby

DATE: May 10, 2014

PLACE: Camp Tuscarora

TIME: 8:30a.m. to 12:30p.m. (Check-in begins at 8:00a.)

COST: $7.00 per Scout (Includes event patch)

NEEDED: *A Cub Scout and Parent/Guardian* Fishing Pole (Rod & reel, cane pole, etc.) * Bait (Live bait only! No artificial lures) * Cub Scout Spirit

2014 Great Neusiok District Spring Fishing Derby RulesDate: Saturday, May 10, 2014Check-in - 8:00a. to 8:30a.Fishing - 8:30a. to 12:00p.

Awards - After all catches are weighed and the results are tabulated.

Official Fishing Derby Rules:

We will sound an air horn at the start of fishing (8:30a.), when the first fish arrives at the weigh-in, and at the end of fishing(12:00p.)

1) There must be a parent or guardian at “arms length” with each Cub Scout.

2) Only registered Cub Scouts are allowed to fish during the derby. Fishing by adults, siblings, or other guests is notpermitted.

3) This event will be live or natural bait only, no artificial lures. (We will not have bait for sale, so please bring yourown.)

4) Any type of hook and line are allowed (cane pole, rod & reel, etc.), but no nets or traps of any kind. (Other thanlanding nets).

5) Multiple lines are OK, but please limit it to 2 per Scout.

6) The Cubs must hook and land their own fish. Casting for the younger boys is allowed, but no further assistance isallowed until the fish is out of the water at the shore. An adult should unhook the fish (unless the Scout is able todo it himself), and may help to get the fish to the weigh-in.

7) This is a catch and release event. There will be a 50% weight penalty for dead fish, so please bring a bucket,cooler or something similar to use as a “live well”.

8) Non-fish catches may be brought to the weigh-in for consideration for Ugliest Catch, but will not be weighed.

9) Fish can be weighed in at any time after the start of the event (8:30a.) Weigh-in will end after the last Scout inline at 12:00p.m. has weighed, so please do not be late! (Hint: After the first fish is weighed, there is no

advantage to bringing each fish to the shelter individually.) 

10) No vehicles allowed in the fishing area without prior approval for medical reasons.

11) The boys may fish anywhere on camp with the exception of within or near the swimming area (Waterfront).

12) No fishing will be allowed after 12:00p.

No fishing licenses are required for registered Cub Scouts. Each Cub can work towards the Fishing Belt Loop andPin.

Awards will be given for First Fish, Most Fish, Largest Fish, Smallest Fish, Heaviest Stringer (1st, 2nd and 3rd),Ugliest Fish, and each participant will receive an event patch.

Concessions will be available for purchase all day. (Breakfast items & coffee early, and hot dogs, chips and softdrinks for lunch).

Please complete registration (by May 2nd) for planning purposes so we can assure that we have enough hot dogs,drinks, etc. for everyone.
