ORIGIN OF THE PINK TRIANGLE AIDS 5-feaith Education

During the Nazi era, prisoners in concentration camps whowere known or men suspected of being homosexual were forced tohe identified as such by nearing a pink triangle sewn to theirclothing. This pink triangle represents one-half of the Star ofDavid which all Jewish prisoners were forced to wear. Althoughdeath was imminent for most prisoners. if those labeledhomosexuals were ever found no, wearing their pink triangle theywould be executed immediately.

Today the pink triangle has become a symbol of pride for Gay,and Lesbian people. Whik it is an ever present reminder of thepersecutions suffered, it further represents the solidarity anddetermination to be freed from oppression, and to gain the rightsand liberties for which all persons are entitled.
