• Started with GRCGLA members doing informal rescues
• Incorporated in 2001
• Attained 501(c)3 status in 2002

Corporate structure• Incorporated according to CA state law with GRCGLA as sole
member • Fiscal year ends June 30• Governed by Board of Directors appointed by GRCGLA• Rescue Board composed of 5-7 members, each serving 2-
year terms (terms staggered so everyone doesn’t expire at the same time!)
• Rescue board officers are elected by rescue BoD. Officers are President, Vice President (optional), Secretary and Treasurer

BoD Officer Responsibilities
President• Presides at BoD meetings• Operational manager for organization• Authorized to ‘speak’ for organization (i.e. sign contracts)
Vice President• President’s duties in President’s absence

Secretary• Takes minutes at BoD meetings• Maintains correspondence• Records Administration

Rescue Board Member Qualifications:
• GRCGLA member– Attend 2 club meetings (one may be a rescue event)
– Be endorsed by two existing club members– Be approved by club BoD and accepted by club
membership– Pay dues

– Active volunteer for 1 year prior– Have experience in 4-5 major areas of rescue operations

Rescue Board Nomination Process• Nominating committee formed each April. One member
each from rescue BoD, club BoD and rescue volunteer team• Nominations accepted for any qualified nominee• Self-nominations are also accepted• BoD members with expiring terms may be asked to re-up• Nominating committee reviews all nominees to identify
most qualified candidates• Slate of final candidates prepared• Slate presented to and approved by GRCGLA BoD at June
