This would include the placing of snow on roads to accommodate snowmobiles or skiing activities. REMOVAL OF ENCUMBERING OBJECTS Citizens are also reminded that under By-Law 2003-162 to prohibit the obstructing, encumbering, injuring or fouling of highways and road allowances/boulevards (examples: removal of yard waste/rub- bish, garbage /storage containers, flower boxes, or any other similar unit. Cash bar available. Thursday, December 11th, 7:00-11:00 pm, cost: $20. Bring an appetizer to share. Adult Pickle Ball in the YMCA Gymnasium The Town of Gravenhurst and the YMCA have partnered together to offer this program in our community Mondays 1:00–2:30 pm & Wednesdays 10:30 am–12:30 pm. Equipment provided, running shoes required. Cost: $5.00 / class, Y members free. Program runs until December 22nd. New session begins in January. The ‘2015 Budget Survey’, is now available at www.gravenhurst.ca This survey is an opportunity for the community to share input, provide insight into the services used and offer sugges- tions as to where the Town could enhance delivery of services. The following offices will be closed for the Christmas Holidays effective Wednesday, December 24th, 2014 at 12:00pm (noon). Regular office hours will resume on Monday, January 5th, 2015. Municipal Office-3-5 Pineridge Gate Centennial Centre-101 Centennial Drive Graeme Murray Arena will be closed on December 25, 26, January 1. Closing at 4:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve Gravenhurst Opera House The Opera House will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day as well as January 1st and 2nd. We are open for regular Box Office hours all other days, Monday to Saturday, 10am until 3pm. Youth Drop In - Open December 29th from 3:30 until 7:30. Happy Holidays! Christmas Holiday Hours The PanAm Games Torch Relay will make a scheduled stop through Gravenhurst this June on its 41 day journey, traveling over 5,000 kilometres on the road and over 15,000 kilometres in the air! As an official Celebration Community, we are preparing for a very exciting day! While many can participate in the relay, only one special individual will have the unique opportunity of carrying the torch with anticipation of igniting the cauldron in Gravenhurst. That special person could be you! Visit Our Website Today to Enter www.gravenhurst.ca The Torch Is Coming! As you deck the halls this holiday season, be fire smart. A small fire that spreads to a Christmas tree can grow large very quickly! The Gravenhurst Fire Department offers these tips if you choose a natural Christmas tree this year: Choose a Tree with fresh, green needles that do not fall off when touched. Before placing the tree in the stand, cut about 2” (60mm) from the base of the trunk. Make sure the tree is at least 3 feet (1 metre) away from any heat source, like fireplaces, radiators, candles, heat vents or lights. Make sure the tree is not blocking an exit. Add water to the tree stand daily. Use lights that have the label of a recognized testing laboratory. Never use candles to decorate the tree Always turn off Christmas tree lights before leaving the home or going to bed. And remember, after Christmas, dispose of the tree promptly. Dried-out trees are a fire danger and should not be left in the home or garage, or against the outside of the home. Have a fire safe Christmas. A message from our family, to yours!
