Construction Methodology: Theretrofittingof the 26existingstreetlightsinthe southerlysectionoffromBethuneDrive to James Street wouldbeundertaken after supplies are receivedandcanbe completedinshort order by the Town's currentStreetlight Maintenance Contractor. The retrofittingof the172improvedstreetlighting,parkinglotlightingandpedestrian way-findinglightingunits alongthe westerly sectionof MuskokaRoad169 throughout theMuskoka Wharf wouldbeundertaken after suppliesare receivedandcanbecompletedinshort order by the Town's current StreetlightMaintenance Contractor. The replacement of the 32streetlights along the east I west sectionof Muskoka Road169 from Bethune Drive to the Muskoka Wharf maybeaccomplished(for the most part)witha "like for like" method - in that an existing fixture wouldbereplacedwithareplacementinthe same location with themain effortbeingexpended intheremovalof the oldunit and the erectionof thenew. The replacement of the 29streetlights inthenortherly sectionoffromJames Street to Winewood Avenue cannotbeaccomplished(nor shouldtheybe)inthe same fashionasthose located on Muskoka Road169.Thesection offromJames Street north to WinewoodAvenueis tobereconstructedbytheDistrict of Muskokainthesummer (post G8)2010.Inconjunction with the District of Muskoka, the Town of Gravenhurst would'dove tail'onthe timelineandcost efficiency of installingstreetscape improvements atthat time. The placement of electrical infrastructure andmovement of other servicingwouldallow for theproper andpermanent placement of the street light fixtures, electrical ducting etc.atthat time;andnot duplicating effortsand costs byundertaking the worksprematurely. Project Timelines: The retrofittingof the 26 existingstreetlights inthe southerlysection offromBethune Driveto James Street andtheretrofittingof the172improved street lighting, parkinglot lightingand pedestrian way-findinglightingunits alongthe westerlysection of MuskokaRoad169 throughout theMuskoka Wharf requireslead time for theorder, manufacture andshippingof the low-energy L.E.D.retrofit fixtures.Installation is a straightforwardexercise as thestructure of thelight heads andbulb units are designed toaccept eachother and wouldbe similar to the replacement of failedbulbsina typical streetlightbulb replacement exercise. This effort wouldlikelybeable to beaccomplishedina matter of four weeks. The replacement of the 32streetlights along theeast I west section of Muskoka Road169 from BethuneDrive to the Muskoka Wharf accomplished witha "like forlike"method andanexisting fixturereplacedinthe same locationcouldbeaccomplishedprior to the G8summit. Thereplacement of the29streetlights inthenortherly section offromJames Street to Winewood Avenue wouldnot be accomplishedprior totheG8 Summit due to theneed for the remedialinfrastructure works tobeundertakeninconjunctionwiththeDistrictof Muskoka's reconstructionof MuskokaRoadandinwaitingonthisproject the Townof Gravenhurst would notbe duplicating efforts andcostsbyundertaking the works prematurely.
