THE ONTOJURIS PROJECT
A multilingual information system for legal
information retrieval. Has a module called
Knowledge Engineering Suite (KES), which
has an ontology editor.
The system accepts queries in one language,
and allows document retrieval of many
documents written in several languages.
THE ONTOJURIS PROJECT
The editor works with UWs inside the
UNL project
Proposition of a new expansion
method for indexing documents,
based on a combination of ontology
networks and Universal Words
THE ONTOJURIS PROJECT
Has information on legislation in the area of
Intellectual Property Law, Consumer Rights
and Electronic Law
For the process of multilingual ontology
construction, it uses legal terms available in
databases to help the
It is made by a consortium formed by Brazil,
Chile, Spain and Argentina, since 2007
MODULES
SEARCH MODULE: Realize the information retrieval
of laws in web. It offers three ways for user to
request searching: similarity, domain choosing, and
simple textual search
MODULES: SEARCH SCREEN
MODULES
MULTILINGUAL EDITOR: Based on Mind Engineering
Methodology for Ontology Construction: Instances of
representation do not include description between
objects, but only relations between them, within
chained domains
MODULES: CHOOSING THE DOMAIN
MODULES: SOME ONTO NETWORK SAMPLE
MODULES: PRE-PROCESSING
BASIC STRUCTURE FOR DOCUMENT INDEXING:
Two main structures:
An alphabetically ordered list of key-words
An alphabetically ordered list of terms
MODULES: PRE-PROCESSING
INDEXING KB DOCUMENTS:
For each document inside the base
1 – Removing irrelevant words (Stop Words)
2 – Stemming to Eliminate desinences (gender, plural)
MODULES: PRE-PROCESSING
3 – Removing special and isolated characters
4 – Testing if there are Terms (composed by words) inside the text, to generate the term vector
5 – Represent a document as a vector of index of terms and key words
SAMPLE OF AN EXPANSION
QUERY EXPANSION:
AMBIGUITY PROBLEM
UW TO SOLVE AMBIGUITY
WHAT IS NEXT?
We have the visual editor, but didn’t tried some experimental results with terms and UW’s: We have, for this moment, the ideal model (the easier one to understand)
What is the role of domains, on this model?
What happens when we have the same two terms on each of two compared languages, connected by its corresponding UW’s, but with a different relation between them (asymetric connected ontologies)?
