GRANULATOR AND SHREDDER KNIVES & SCREENS
High Performance & Less Maintenance
Application Specific Solutions
OEM Made to Maximize Throughput

Granulator performance is optimized when knives are sharp. Regular knife
changes and consistent maintenance to set the knife gap will produce high
quality regrind and lower your power consumption.
Cumberland knives are manufactured from the highest quality steel and to exacting dimensions, meeting or exceeding original specifications. Using high-carbon, high-chromium,
heat-treated and coated D2 steel, Cumberland knives outperform the non-genuine, competitive knives
offered in the market. All Cumberland knives are precision engineered to guarantee cutting performance,
ensure accurate gaps, and improve longevity. An optional carbide coating is available for a minimal
cost, extending the life of your knives by an average of 30%. 3 Blade Rotor
2 Bed Knife Configuration*
It is important that the proper angle is chosen for the products put through the granulator. Incorrect knife angle can cause high noise levels, high power requirements, and less bite on the process.
High Shear Knife DesignMaximizes cutting strength where high impact cutting forces are required for tough materials. Typical Applications include thick sectionpipe, profiles, moldings, sheet, and light purging’s up to 2” wall thickness.
Steep-Angle Knife. Keen EdgeTypical applications include thermoforming scrap, sheet, film, and rubber type materials with elastic properties.
Steep-Angle Knife, 55o Landed Combined cutting function coupled with additional strength at the cutting edge for medium energy absorbing, high impact materials. Typical applications include large bulky thin wall molded parts, sprues and runners, thermoformed parts and skeleton sheet, up to 3/8” wall thickness.

Granulator Knives• High Performance

Tech Tip: Cumberland recommends a knife gap of .008” with a tolerance of +/- .002”. This allows for maximum throughput while reducing dust and friction.
Adding correct knife gap and sharp knives to your weekly preventative maintenance checklist will assure maximum effi ciency from your granulator.
Granulator Screens• OEM Manufactured to Maximize Throughput• Application Speci f ic Solutions• In Stock, Immediate Availability
Cumberland has been manufacturing granulator screens for over 75 years. Rolled
and machined in house, Cumberland screens are
manufactured from the highest quality steel and treated
for wear resistance to maximize longevity. Specialty screens
can be quickly manufactured to your unique application.
In addition, Cumberland screens are available with various options to enhance their performance and useful
life. These options include heat treating for abrasion resistance to hard materials, perforated and milled back
screens for materials that may blind the holes, and angled holes that will minimize long thin pieces of regrind.
Our trusted aftermarket support team will guide you in selecting the correct screen size and screen options
for your granulator. We take pride in our personalized customer attention resulting in optimal performance
of your granulator.
Angled Hole Screens
Angled Hole Screens are used when the material creates long thin
pieces of regrind (called “longs”). The angled hole breaks the longs
into smaller pieces
Perforated / Milled Back Screens
These screens are used in applications where material will “blind” the hole.
The thinner working area of the screen allows the rotor to “push”
material through the hole.
Thinner area in the screen allows rotor to push material
through the hole
Angled hole to remove “longs” from the regrind
Screens with a standard
design allow for greater
throughputs of “longs”

Most standard screen sizes are available to ship within 24 hours.
Tech Tip: Cumberland recommends rotating your screens at every knife change
or material “color” change. This helps create even wear on the leading edge of the screen holes and extend the life of your screen. Uneven wear can lead to material build up in the chamber and increased power consumption.
