May, much like April before it, has been a rather strange month. My hometown,

Minneapolis, has been racked by protests and violence, both on the part of police and agi-

tators. I’ve been praying for peaceful protests and, that the more violent elements on both

sides, listen to calls for peace and civility. I’ve seen photos from my friends of burned out

stores I used to go to. It has been weighing heavily on my mind. I’ve also seen photos of

friends cleaning graffiti, and heard stories of friends banding together to prevent looters

and agitators from entering their neighborhoods. As Mr. Rodgers would say, it helps to

look for the helpers in a time of crisis. Those are the places the Holy Spirit is breaking in.

We are hoping to resume in person worship sometime soon. We are not close

enough to put a set date, but we will have a better idea after our council meeting on June

9th. There are many safety procedures we have put in place to ensure the well-being of all

participants, as recommended by the CDC, the MDH, and local health officials. We will

continue to post live-streams of our worship to our Facebook account and upload the

completed worship to YouTube. If you feel unsafe or anxious about coming to worship,

we encourage you to stay at home and worship remotely.

Thank you for your collective willingness to follow future safety guidelines. Please join me

in daily prayer for a vaccine to be delivered soon. May God bless you and your family in

this time.

Your brother in Christ,

Pastor Paul Drees

Greetings from Pastor Paul

Share your talents!

Due to concerns of communal singing, we are exploring other options for

worship music. These include instrumental and vocal solos, as well as having

a handbell choir perform. If you are interested in any of these op-

tions, please let us know! This would be a great way for us to share

music without sharing pathogens.

WELCA MEMO

“God is in the business of transforming lives and situations to bring the best to us when we wait on Him, remain faithful, and watch for His hand to move.”

Kathy Weckwerth states in her Bible study The Story of My Life: Joseph, ‘When we think we cannot go on, when we cannot see our way, when we cannot figure it out, when everything is going wrong, that is when we need to listen for God’s voice because He will come into the picture at just the right time, with just the right setting, the right lighting, and exactly the right picture and knows how to make things better! He gives us the desires of our heart at a deeper level than we can ever imagine!’

Just as God was with Joseph through his trials, He will be with us now as we adjust to a new norm of COVID-19. God’s blessing to each of you as we wait for the time for when we can once again come together for fellowship and coffee. Kathy Hendrickson
