4.0 Setup ProcedureTo set up the Elastix Server for the Grandstream GXP280

1. Go to the web address of the Elastix Server Login page. The web address isdetermined by the customer, for this guide we have used the IP address192.168.1.65

2. On the Login page, type the username and password for an administrative user intothe Username and Password fields, see Figure 4-1. The username and password aredetermined by the customer.

3. Press Enter or click on the Submit button to go to Elastix’s Dashboard

4. Once inside, click on the PBX tab on the menu at the top of the screen

5. Click on the Submit button to add an extension, see Figure 4-3. This will take youto the Add SIP Extension page.

6. On the Add SIP Extension page (Figure 4-4), fill in the following information:

• User Extension (301 in this example)• Display Name (‘GrandstreamGXP280’ in this example)• secret (‘h7Dka3Rf9si0t’ in this example)

7. Click on “Submit” button at the end of the page, and you will see a similar page onFigure 4-5 displaying the “Apply Configuration Changes Here” pink ribbon on topof the screen. Click on there to apply changes.

5. Click on the Submit button to add an extension, see Figure 4-3. This will take youto the Add SIP Extension page.

6. On the Add SIP Extension page (Figure 4-4), fill in the following information:

8. With this you have just finished creating a SIP extension that will be used by theGrandstream GXP2120 to register with the Elastix Server. Repeat Steps 5 through 8to similarly create another extension (different values on Step 6) to be used by theIP (SIP) Phone to register as well (extension 302 in this example). Once youfinished you will see something similar to Figure 4-6.

9. You will need to enter the information from the extension created on the ElastixServer into the Grandstream Phone by logging into the web interface of the phone.

To register the Escene Phone we have two methods: Manual Configuration andAutoProvisioning using Elastix’s Endpoint Configurator.

MANUAL CONFIGURATION

1. Log in to the Grandstream GXP280 WebUI by pointing your browser to theGrandstream Phone’s IP address.

For the initial configuration, refer to the Grandstream GXP280 User Manual foundat: http://www.grandstream.com/index.php/products/ip-voice-telephony/enterprise-ip-phones/gxp285

Factory default settings

2. When prompted, enter the Web Access Password to accesss to the WebUI (Figure4-7).

3. Use the information from the Add SIP Extension page (Figure 4-4) to enter thefollowing necessary information on “Account” section of the Grandstream PhoneWebUI (Figure 4-8a):

Account Active: Yes Account Name: GrandstreamUser SIP Server: Elastix Server’s IP Address (192.168.1.65 in this example) SIP User ID: 301 Authenticate ID: 301 Authenticate Password: (‘h7Dka3Rf9si0t’ in this example)

Once you have entered the required information, click on ‘Update’ button located atthe end of the page. Reboot the phone.

5. To check the correct registration of the phone, go to “Status” section. You shouldsee your phone registered (Figure 4-9). If the phone is not registered, make sureyou’ve entered the correct information.

6. Configure the other IP (SIP) Phone with the correct parameters.

7. To test the Grandstream GXP280, pick up the previously configured IP (SIP) Phoneand call the GXP280’s extension number (301 in this example). When the call isestablished, speak into the phone and verify that the other IP (SIP) Phone can hearyour voice. Check this by calling from both ends. This step completes the manualprocedure.

AUTOPROVISIONING USING ELASTIX’S ENDPOINTCONFIGURATOR

1. In the Grandstream GXP280 WebUI, go to “Advanced Setings” section. In theFirmware Upgrade and Provisioning section set the following (Figure 4.10):

Upgrade Via: TFTP Config Server Path: Elastix’s IP Address (192.168.1.65 in this example)

2. Click on “Update” button located at the end of the page. Now, in the Elastix WebUIgo to “PBX => Endpoint Configurator” (Figure 4-11).

Mark the checkbox From the drop-down list, select the correct “Phone Type” (phone model) of the

phone From the drop-down list, select the “User Extension” you want to assign to the

phone

5. Click the “Set” button. When the process finish loading, reboot the phone byunplugging and plugging again the power cord.

6. If you refresh the page after phone reboot, you should see the extension number inthe “Current Extension” field (Figure 4.14). The phone should be registered andready for calls now.

7. Configure the other IP (SIP) Phone with the correct parameters.
