The highly acclaimed Frenchman Didier Lockwood is considered by many to be the greatest jazz violinist ever. This rare Copenhagen appearance of his reunites him with his close friend and frequent collaborator, Denmark’s stellar pianist Niels Lan Doky. Together they are joined by Denmark’s newest bass star, Morten Ramsbøl and the incredible and legendary American drummer Jeff «Tain» Watts.

Introductory speech by Per Arnoldi, artist/designer, friend and fan of Stan Getz.

In 1959 Stan Getz became one of the first musicians to ever play the Montmartre in Store Regnegade. Getz had a life long association with Denmark and played with many Danish musicians over the years. One of today’s most prolific jazz artists, the great Swiss-American alto saxophonist George Robert, teams up with three of Denmark’s most legendary jazz veterans, for a spectacular and devoted celebration of one of the greatest saxophonists of all time. Tonight, tenor saxophonist/composer Hans Ulrik will be joined on stage by one of Denmark’s most celebrated bassists, the great Jesper Lundgaard, and the new young Danish drum revelation, Niclas Bardeleben.

Following other collaborations, with people such as Pat Metheny, Marcus Miller and Chick Corea, Kenny Garrett today focuses mainly on his own projects. In 1964 Swedish singer Monica Zetterlund and American pianist Bill Evans recorded their masterpiece album “Waltz For Debby”. Zetterlund must have sparked an unusual inspiration in Evans, as he hardly ever agreed to collaborate with other artists. Zetterlund has described the critically acclaimed album as her best ever and the one she was the most proud of. Join us for this three day celebration of our region’s most beloved jazz vocal role model and her ultimate album, featuring some of today’s most respected and exciting Scandinavian jazz artists.

The award winning Italian jazz singer Alice Ricciardi has performed at many of the world’s most esteemed jazz venues and events, including Jazz at Lincoln Center’s «Dizzy’s Jazz Club» in New York, The Cotton Club in Tokyo and the Montreux Jazz Festival. Her debut album «Comes Love», released on the prestigious Blue Note label, has received critical acclaim, reminding listeners of the elegance and swing found in jazz legends such as Carmen McRae and Nancy Wilson. For this first ever concert in Denmark, Alice brings with her from Rome the magnificent pianist Pietro Lussu.

When Miles Davis after 6 years of complete silence made his much anticipated come back in 1981, his new band gained instant worldwide recognition. Bill Evans was the young sax player by Miles Davis’ side introducing a new and fresh approach to the instrument.
