Grand Knight Report – by Dave Peterson
Brother Knights,
It’s Tootsie Roll time again. Thank you to everyone that
volunteered and participated in this extremely
worthwhile fund raiser that supports People with
Intellectual Disabilities. Also, thank you in advance for
those volunteering to work the Von Hanson Brat stand
on May 18 & 19. And thanks to those who will make a
special trip to the stand to enjoy a brat or hot dog. There
are still some shifts available, if you have a couple of
hours free, Steve Dahl at 952-892-0383. Proceeds
benefit our Scholarship Program.
This month’s speaker will be Joe Majeski. Joe will fill us
in on the latest changes affecting the tax code and our
personal taxes. Starts at 7:00 PM, don’t be late.
SECOND NOTICE: We are still looking for candidates
to run and fill offices in our council. Requirements are
that, 1) you are a practicing Catholic (you swore to this
in your oath in case you forgot) and, 2) that you are a 3rd
or 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. “No experience
necessary, will train”. If you can’t run for an office at
least attend our meetings. Call me at 952-233-8918 if
you can help us out.
Please remember to collect can tabs and bring them with
you when you come to the meeting or to Mass.
Vivat Jesus.
Fraternally,
Dave Peterson

A group of celebrities in the U.K. formed a group, Crustacean Compassion, calling for an end of
boiling lobsters alive because new research shows that they may feel pain. The group made no mention
of the pain that babies 20 weeks old and younger feel from abortion. The U.S. allows elective
abortions at this stage, and now even later in some states. The U.K. restrictions on late term abortion
are even more lax.
The board President at Pregnancy Choices asked me to prepare a piece on recent pro-death and pro-
life legislation. Here is some of that material. It should be noted that the bishops in NY,RI, & VA
took a pass on ex-communication, or even refusing the Eucharist, to the so called Catholic governors
and legislators who supported or passed and signed the most egregious laws ever, allowing abortion
right up to birth.
Pro-Life Bills and Laws Pro-Death Laws and Actions State Heart Beat laws that have been passed and NY passes/signs Reproductive Health Act to the Signed in OH, MS, KY, IA & ND could end abortion cheers of Catholic legislators for Catholic Gov. but are now blocked by rogue Federal judges. Mario Cuomo - allowing abortion up to birth. Born-Alive Bill (HR 962) calls for a practitioner NC governor Democrat Roy Cooper vetoes the NC to offer care for abortion victims born alive. Born Alive bill which would protect babies born Democrats blocked the bill 20 times to date along alive following a late term abortion procedure, w. Pres. Candidate Sen. answer session was
held and several
handouts with other resources were
provided.
Thanks to our Lector, Dave Commerford for arranging for Pam to present at our

Successful Towel Drive!
As a great example of Faith In Action, our council conducted a very successful Towel
Drive for a donation to Bridging in Bloomington. An incredible 550 Bath towels, 275
Hand towels, 300 wash clothes, and 150 kitchen towels were donated during the
drive.
Bridging’s Mission is: Through the effective reuse of donated items, Bridging improves
lives by providing quality furniture and household goods to those transitioning out of
homelessness and poverty.
Special thanks to Brother Jerry Kuennen for coordinating the drive and Brother Rich
Ehalt in helping with the delivery. Both are pictured below at the drop-off.
