I told my friend not to get too excited about turning 32, since her birthday party would be so short. "Why would it be short?" she asked. I said, "Because it's your thirty-second birthday."

Groundhog Day 2019 was celebrated at Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, at about 7:25 a.m. on Saturday, February 2. That’s when Punxsutawney Phil left his burrow and looked for his shadow for the 133rd

time. Phil did not find his shadow. According to legend this means we’re in for an early spring. Look-ing at the forecast for this weekend, I would say Phil was wrong. According to CNN in the past decade, Phil has predicted a longer winter seven times and an early spring three times. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says he was only right about 40% of the time.

Instead of “the John,” I call my toilet “the Jim.” That way it sounds better when I say I go to the Jim first thing every morning.
