FOOD COLLECTION PROJECT

Attempt made to collect cooked food from small restaurants wasn’t feasible !!

Their left over food was just enough for their staff….

They did not have much extra left over.

Attempt made to collect cooked food from larger hotels wasn’t feasible too!!

They declined as they were concerned about the food getting spoilt due to improper

storage and transport . They did not want to be responsible for food poisoning or any such

mishaps

The old age homes and orphanages did not accept the food for the same reason ….

GRAIN COLLECTION PROJECT

So the way to go was Grain Collection.

Staple food is rice.

Its easier to get people to donate a kg of rice rather than money… so every doorbell I rang

I was not refused

Devoted 3 hrs. every Sunday

Visited on an average 10 homes every Sunday

Collected 40 kgs. of rice each month

So far collected 150 kgs.

FOOD BANK OF THE REHABILITATION CENTRE OF CPAA (Cancer Patients Aid

Association) Mumbai, India Established in 1969, to provide support and assistance to underprivileged cancer patients.

CANCER REHABILITATION PATIENTS

MY INTERACTION WITH CPAA

• Rehabilitation center restores confidence to the lives of cancer patients.

• Helps them find the ability to support themselves…tailoring, printing, candle making, box-making, envelope-making, painting etc. ..

• We purchased some of their products and helped raise money for them by selling them amongst family and friends before Diwali.

MY INTERACTION WITH CPAA

Initiated a campaign and raised funds for… Adopt a patient Program to cover the treatment

of 8 yrs. old Krish Patel (anonymized) for 1 year who diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic

Leukemia and is under treatment at Sion Hospital ,Mumbai

LONG TERM PLAN

Make fund raising a quarterly initiative

Cooking Making snack boxes Selling them and raising funds.

Involving my juniors in school with passion for food to help me with the cooking and with

the grain collection
