GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY – MASTER’S IN EPIDEMIOLOGY, WASHINGTON D.C.
https://epidemiology.georgetown.edu/
The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Georgetown University has established a Master of Science degree in
Epidemiology, a core discipline in public health. Epidemiology is the study (scientific, systematic, and data-driven) of the
distribution (frequency, pattern) and determinants (causes, risk factors) of health-related states and events (not just
diseases) in specified populations (neighborhood, school, city, state, country, global).
The epidemiology program addresses health disparities as a crosscutting theme at the local, national, and global levels
via didactic training, practicums, and applied ‘hands-on’ research leading to the written thesis. All students take a
sequence of core courses in epidemiology, health disparities research, and introduction to the concentrations. These
concentrations are: Cancer Epidemiology, Infectious Disease Epidemiology, and Social and Behavioral Epidemiology.
Then the students choose one of the three areas of concentrations offered for their electives and thesis focus.
This is a 4-semester program requiring each student to complete 34 credit hours for the MS in Epidemiology; comprising
22 credits of core courses, and at least 12 concentration-specific credits, which is inclusive of a thesis. Since our program
requires a minimum of 34 credits over a 2-year time period, this will be financially appealing to students interested in
our program in comparison to master’s programs in epidemiology that require 45 credits for the same degree. For Fall
2021 registration, the date for early application is January 15 and regular application is April 1.

INDIANA UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA, INDIANA, PA http://www.iup.edu/admissions/graduate/
Each year, over 2,000 graduate students from 37 countries study at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in more than 60
master’s and doctoral programs that challenge, shape, and expand their way of thinking. IUP students work side-by-side
with professors on stimulating research projects, while learning in classrooms that encourage one-on-one experiences
and mentorship. We also offer an abundance of assistantships.
IUP features the greatest number of Fulbright faculty scholars in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education and
is one of only four public doctoral/research universities in Pennsylvania. As a result, we place a high priority on the
quality of research you can produce. Students have access to our state-of-the-art facilities and the latest technology, as
well as resources like our Applied Research Lab. You’ll even have opportunities to present your research through
conferences, symposia, exhibits, and colloquiums like our Graduate Scholars Forum.
While over 1,000 graduate students attend classes on our main campus each year, you can pursue your degree at one of
our other sites: Monroeville, Northpointe, Johnstown, Harrisburg. Alternatively, take advantage of the various online
and hybrid (partially online) capabilities offered by programs designed specifically for working professionals, using
technology like our “virtual classroom” experience.
