tradition Meets Innovation

Tennessee’s oldest college

and a pioneer in opportunities

for women and minorities,

Tusculum was established

in 1794 to develop citizens

distinguished by academic

excellence, public service

and high moral character.

In 1984, the college created

the Graduate and Professional

Studies program to combine

the values and ideals of its

founders with the needs of

today’s busy adult learner.

This uniquely focused and

practical program has enabled

thousands of men and women

to obtain the degrees they

need to succeed professionally

and personally. More than 90

percent of our new students

come to us because someone

they know recommended

the program.

Your timE is ValuablE

We know how difficult it can be to balance hours spent on the job with quality time at home. Tusculum’s Graduate and Professional Studies Program offers you the flexibility to pursue a college degree while maintaining your balancing act.

our Focused Calendar allows you to take one class at a time in the evenings or on weekends at your choice of several locations. Most courses typically last six weeks and include one weekly

formal class session and one weekly informal learning team meeting, set at the convenience of your team.

Courses are intense, yet classes are small—an average of 15 to 20 stu-dents—to ensure the one-on-one attention that will help you succeed.

We also offer the opportunity to gain credit by creating a portfolio that demonstrates your college-equivalent life experience.

tusCulum’s foCusEd CalEndar isn’t simPlY ConVEniEnt

Taking one course at a time enables you to delve deeply into a subject and immediately apply the knowledge you gain. “Practical” is the key word.

Classes are small enough to integrate plenty of hands-on experience, guided by outstanding faculty who are engaged in their fields doing what they teach. our professors are also entrepreneurs, managers, school consultants… professionals who know that a solid education is more than memorization.

In our business programs, each learning team completes a project in keeping with

our civic arts focus, such as creating a marketing plan for a nonprofit agency. It’s a great way to practice what you’ll do in your career and make a real difference at the same time.

every class in our education programs includes a practicum so future teachers are in local schools from day one. Seeing how experienced teachers deal with children in real situations is the best way to make theory come alive!

at Tusculum, you’ll learn it. and then you’ll do it.
