___________________________ Dear Potential Candidate for Student Council 2008-2009 – Grade 9 Representative Election: As you may know, Student Council is made up of the Executives and two representatives from each grade. We are looking for two Grade 9 students who are enthusiastic and dedicated to join the RHHS Student Council (StuCo). Student Council will impact your life drastically in your capacity as a Grade Representative. Grade Reps feel the pulse of their grade, and give feedback to the executives. They are critics and friends that input ideas, comments and statistics. As a Grade Rep, you represent every single student in the school, particularly those in your grade, and are expected to be a positive role model to your peers. Being on Student Council as a Grade Rep is not to be taken lightly. You have many responsibilities and duties you must fulfill while maintaining a high academic average. For instance, you are expected to be helping out at every event with the same enthusiasm as you had when you helped plan it, and you are expected to be present at every meeting. StuCo provides you with a unique experience and the opportunity to have a lot of fun steering the school in a new direction. Getting involved is the best way to make the most out of your high school years, and Student Council can definitely be a big part of that. If you’re interested in running in the election, please fill out the bottom portion of this form and return it to the Student Council Mailbox in the Attendance Office. (Student Council members will not accept forms.) The deadline for these forms is MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15. In addition to your form, you must hand in a completed, 30-second speech, which should be attached to this form. Any speeches longer than 30 seconds will be cut short during the actual Election Day, which will take place FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19. You will be informed if you are running in the election the prior to this date, at which point your approved speeches will be returned to you. Good luck!
