Tim the Tour Man (AKA Activities Director, GPMC) Says: January is a slow time for activities, at least for DOING activities. But it's time to ramp up some planning for winter and spring activities for the club. At the January meeting, I took a "straw poll" of member interest on a variety of ideas. It appears there is sufficient interest to again have a GPMC Semi-Invitational Miniature Golf Tournament and Pizza Party. Activities Director-Emeritus Dwight H. will be setting the date of the Mini Golf outing with Monster Golf in Monroeville soon, so look for an email invitation once the date is firmed up. There was a little bit of interest in going to a Wheeling Nailers hockey game. I'm looking into a possible date for that in the late-February to mid-March range. We'll see how that shakes out. Tentatively slotted for late March will be a Murder Mystery Dinner with the same troupe the club saw at the Spaghetti Warehouse a few years ago. I'm hoping to book that soon as well. My friends at the Berks County Mustang Car Club are making the trek to The Henry Ford Museum in late April, and if there's interest, we may just tag along with them. If you've never been to The Henry Ford, it's an amazing museum with much more than automotive history, although the automotive displays are incredible! The tentative plan is to leave on Friday, April 22 by mid-morning and arrive in Dearborn in time to do the tour of the nearby F-150 factory. Saturday will be spent at The Henry Ford museum and neighboring Greenfield Village, then depart for home on Sunday morning with a quick photo stop at the Mustang factory in Flat Rock, MI. If you have any interest in this trip, send me an email right away so I can keep you in the loop about travel plans and hotels. Other activities that are on the radar are a Spring Stampede tour, if I can decide where to go!; another drive-in movie cruise in the summer; and perhaps a weekend morning detailing seminar; and Tim S. is working on a possible summer weekend outing to Gettysburg. These are ideas that I'm kicking around. If you have input or would like to help organize any of them, feel free to send me an email at [email protected].
