Next Meeting Wednesday, November 6, at King’s, Harmarville

Board Meeting 7:00 pm, General Meeting 7:30 pm

Greetings Pony Lovers –

By now the frost is on the pumpkin and most of us have put our ponies away for the winter. It’s always sad when it’s time to hang up the keys for the winter.

This year’s Fall Foliage Tour was one of our best ever. I’m not sure if we had a record turnout, but if not, it sure was close. Join me in wishing Tim a huge “Thank You” for another job well done. He’s already talking about planning an-other tour.

This year’s Holiday Party looks to be a great time. Charlyn has it scheduled for Dec. 15th at the Hyehold Restaurant in Moon Twp. RSVP form is in the Upcom-ing Events section of our website and later in this newsletter.

Don’t forget you can use your Pony Points toward your membership dues, the Holiday Party, or for in-stock mer-chandise. A listing of everyone’s totals will be passed around at the Nov. and Dec. meetings, and are posted in the Members’ Only section of the website and in this newsletter. Points must be used by Dec. 31st. Membership dues,

either paid in cash or via Pony Points, are due by Dec. 31st.

Elections will be held at our December meeting, so there’s still time to throw your hat into the ring if you’re interested in run-ning for office. Positions on the ballot in-clude all five Club officers (President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer & MCA Rep,) Mer-chandise Director, Newsletter Editor and two Board members. Please let Ed or me know if you’re interested in running for of-fice.

Speaking of meetings, our next one will be at King’s Family Restaurant in Harmarville on November 6th. After the standing room only turnout in October, King’s has prom-ised to make more seating available. Let’s make sure we have another good turnout.

Keep those motors runnin’,

Ken

Motion carried.

memberships. Mary is working on updating the October Directory. Oct. 1 begins the annual membership renewal - $20/

year. After Dec. 31, the dues will be $25. Dwight urged members to submit their dues payment early. Your Pony Points

worth $.50/point. Ed mentioned the members’ Pony Points totals will be available shortly and would be printed in the

available at $15.

Webmaster: Jennie mentioned our new members should go to our Members Section, which is password protected. She

provided the password, which may change in January. She made a change to the website. Comments are enabled and

she took care of the spammers. Jennie asked members to visit the website when we need to cancel a meeting because of

severe weather. Send car and event photos to her at [email protected] for posting on our site.

TRCCC: Ron absent. For our new members, Ken explained that the Tri River Car Club Council (TRCCC) keeps clubs

up-to-date on issues. Ken reported that Ron attended their last meeting on Sept. 17. The main thing discussed was the

parking.

GPMC NEWS November 2013 Page 3

Dwight mentioned the Car Cruise for Jazzy he helped with in Monroeville had a very good turnout. He asked if the

members would be interested in a Fall event possibly at the North Park Deck House and another Monster Golf

(Monroeville) outing in the Winter. There was a consensus of members and he would start checking into both events.

Also, he and Mary will handle the Hospitality Picnic in Monroeville next year and he will be reserving a large pavilion.

Because of the large turnout of members, this will not be a combined meeting/picnic. The date of the picnic will be

Sunday, July 27, 2014. The meeting is scheduled for Aug. 6.

Fall Foliage Tour: Tim reported the tour is scheduled for Sat., Oct. 19. Everyone will meet at the Raceway Plaza

South, Heidelberg, along PA Route 50, just over a mile north of I-79, exit 55. We will meet at the Wal-Mart parking lot,

behind Woltz & Wind Ford at 9:00 AM. Scheduled sites are covered bridges through Washington County and the Trol-

ley Museum ($8.50/person) in Washington, PA. This will be a picnic lunch at Mingo Park. Attendees should RSVP to

Tim. He will e-mail details to everyone who signed up. To date, 43 cars and 87 people have signed up.

Old Business: The GPMC generic business cards are available.

Ken reminded members about the club elections this Fall. If anyone is interested in running for office, please let Ed or

him know. All Officer Positions are available, as well as Newsletter Editor (Andrew is willing to run again), Merchan-

dise Director, and two Board seats.

New Business: Mark Mo. reported that the PVGP invited us to attend the check presentation at the Allegheny Valley

School on Oct. 25. It was a record-breaking year. Regarding the PVGP, Ken mentioned a small supply of posters is

available to anyone who volunteered at PVGP.

Mark Mo. mentioned he knows someone who has two garage spaces available for winter storage. John H. thanked Tim

for the great job he did on the Motordrome event.

Other: Dwight won the 50/50. Next meeting: Wed., Nov. 6, at Kings Restaurant in Harmarville.

Jason mentioned that Jacquie’s surgery is scheduled for Oct. 30 and he will keep everyone updated.

Adjournment: It was moved by Tim B. and 2nd by Carl C. to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.

The 2013 GPMC Fall Foliage Tour

Tim "The Tour Man" put together a wonderful tour, with detailed directions, which led us down scenic back

roads to the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum, Mingo Creek State Park, and the Greendance Winery. As we left

from the Raceway Plaza in Heidelberg, the group stayed together until some of us were so distracted by the

beautiful fall foliage that we missed a turn. . .then another. . .then. . . but who's counting?

We enjoyed our visit to the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum, riding restored antique trolleys and marveling at

the museum's collection, then hit the road again. All of us made it to Mingo Creek State Park for a picnic

lunch - all except for the car that lost its brakes along the way. Dwight and Mary stayed with Gerri until a tow

truck arrived, then caught up with the rest of us at the park just in time to leave for the winery.

We thought we were home free until Dwight and Mary's car refused to budge in the middle of the road. Were

they ever surprised to see the same tow truck driver that had helped Gerri earlier in the day. Those of us who

had turned back to offer assistance took a shortcut to the winery, where we all regrouped to share our stories.

All in all, it was an eventful and enjoyable day. Thanks, Tim!!!
