The Global Peace Foundation (GPF) is an international non-profit peace movement. GPF presents a new paradigm for peace-building based on universal aspirations, principles and shared spiritual values as essential resources to transcend divisions. The GPF theme of ‘One Family Under God’ is not a simple slogan but a core defining value, wherein people of all faiths, races, and cultural backgrounds recognise a common, human identity, and therefore a basis for respect and accommodation.

The Global Peace Festival (GPF) Malaysia is a registered non-profit organisation since 2011, although our passion and programmes have started years ago. GPF Malaysia has been actively planting the seeds of peace and unity through various ongoing activities. Together with 14 International chapters around the world, we will nurture the seeds to grow a new culture of peace, globally.

We need a new, spiritual vision of peace for the

twenty first century that can bring all people of

faith together as one. That vision, I believe, is

'One Family Under God'-Dr. Hyun Jin Moon-

One whole year has passed in the blink of an eye with a brand new year now fast progressing. And yet, I feel like it was only yesterday that 2012 was the turning point for Global Peace Festival (GPF) Malaysia as we braved ourselves through another year of further growth, new challenges and great opportunities.

Within that frame of time, we managed to achieve tremendous success with a few new programmes implemented such as the International Youth Exchange (IYE) programme at Sultan Idris Education University on 4-11 February 2012, which was attended by university students from 8 countries to raise young leaders promoting unity; and the Global Peace Woman 2012’s launching on 18 April 2012, which saw 330 participants from Malaysia and South Korea in a forum that promotes peace and nation-building among women.

Meanwhile, the second edition of our eight-month Midnight Football programme was also completed successfully last year with the Midnight Football Cup championship as the finale.

Besides the ongoing Malaysia – Korea collaboration in Global Peace Leadership Exchange, we collaborated with Department of National Unity and Integration (JPNIN) in organising two United Generation Workshops with participation of 20 various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) as well as the Inaugural National Sports Conference at the Malaysia International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC).

More new exciting projects have been planned out for 2013 with several initiatives are already underway. I am happy and proud to see how much we have grown and moved forward together as a

family. With sheer determination and dedication in a true essence of teamwork spirit; I am sure we will be able to advance and excel to greater heights.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to all our partners, collaborators and friends for their ongoing support to achieve our common goals to champion unity, peace and harmony.

Also my appreciation goes to our board members and management for ensuring that governance within the organisation continues as it has been at the highest level possible.

Last but not least, we would not have reached this far without our committed staff and volunteers. Thank you for your tireless efforts both on the field and in other spheres in ensuring that every task and project was carried out accordingly.

We still have some way to go, but with all your support and staying united in the unifying spirit of “One Family under God”, we will get to where we aspire to be, with God’s willing. May the Almighty bless all of you and GPF Malaysia.

I always love football. But after joining MF, I approach the game as a player and a fan in a better and more disciplined manner. The leadership award has inspired me to always put in my best to realize my ambition to be a lawyer, a better family member, a contributing member of society and of course, an excellent football player.

-Muhammad Hafizie B. Mohd Rozi, MF Leadership Award recipient-

I can see that the participants who are from various ethnic groups have come together in the programme and together they have made sincere efforts to become better students and individuals.

We are not any less intelligent, we are not any less capable. What important is we need to inculcate in our children. For me, there is no substitute for education. In this world where there are many prejudices, I think with a good education, Insyallah every daughter, every child, every woman and every female will have a good chance in life to succeed.

- Yang Mulia Dato’ Paduka Toh Puan Seri Diraja Noor Aini Dato’ Abdullah -

There are a lot of things women can do. We can help the children, help the family, and help the nation by giving more moral support. Because all these starts from home. So if you have more attention to you your children, definitely Malaysia will become a beautiful nation.

At the beginning, I thought it would be just another ordinary programme. But at the end of the programme, I felt like we have been together for so long. I feel sad that we have to separate. I cried a lot. These eight days have changed my life tremendously especially on my view on religion. We are truly One Family Under God. IYE Rocks!

I felt that this was a meaningful programme that let me experienced ‘One Family Under God’. I would like to suggest that more measures be taken in inviting leaders, and that the Korean-Malaysian exchange should be carried out regionally.- Kim Mi Hwa, Eastern Seoul, Head of GPF Eastern Seoul Chapter -

This programme is very good for the two countries, whereby leaders can exchange their experiences, views about each country’s respec-tive culture, economic development and lifestyle. The 13th and 14th GPLE brought a new initiative - the Alllights Village project to Sabah, Malaysia. Delegates from Korea brought along with them solar-powered eco-friendly LED lights to be donated to remote communities without access to electricity. The lights enable children to study at night and for other family activities in addition to reducing health risks caused by kerosene lanterns. This in long term can also elevate the social-economic status of the families.
