VOLUME 28 ISSUE 10 NOVEMBER 2016 GOWRIE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH The Lifeline Greetings Sisters and Brothers!! November looks like a very exciting month!! We have a lot planned including the celebration and recognition of our wonderful committed members! “A Month of Thanks” will focus on giving thanks throughout the month simply be- cause we do not do it enough!! We have so many that work hard to lead us in ministry and guide our outreach as well. We also have those who reach out to others in the name of the church asking for nothing in return and being that blessed presence in times of need. Of course we have those who are physically involved in the Sunday morning ac- tivities and manage to lead in seemingly confident ease. Finally, without those who have committed to this congregation through their gifts, presence, prayers, service, and witness we would not be here. To all of you, thank you and know that we pray for you daily!! Look what Psalm 100 says: “Be Thankful” A psalm of thanksgiving. 1 Shout triumphantly to the L೮, all the earth. 2 Serve the L೮ with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. 3 Acknowledge that Yahweh is God. He made us, and we are His [a] His people, the sheep of His pasture. 4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name. 5 For Yahweh is good, and His love is eternal; His faithfulness endures through all generations. (HCSB) Many other Psalms also address giving thanks. Even Paul in all his struggles gives thanks to God for God is good and blesses us constantly. (Rom. 1:21; 5:1-11, 1 Cor. 1:9) It is we (humanity) who cause the pain and struggles. God gives us hope for today and always. So, join us for this month of giving thanks. November 6: Communion and current leadership recognized! November 13: All who “serve: whether it is through a committee or on your own. November 20: All members, especially those who have been part of the church for 50 years or more!! November 27: 1 st Sunday of Advent, Service of Thanksgiving and Praise as we begin our Advent cele- brating “the Angels of Christmas!!” (this year’s Advent theme) God is so good! All the time, God is good!! Give thanks to the Lord! With a grateful and humble heart I thank you for the privilege of ministry together. 1306 MARKET ST PO BOX 479 GOWRIE IA 50543 515-352-3715

CONFIRMATION CLASS NEWS

October was a fun month for us. We prepared and served a meal for the Bea-con of Hope in Fort Dodge. The tour was most inter-esting and we enjoyed our time visiting and sharing! We also helped serve the soup supper. How fun! Our learning was an active experience as we ate, cleaned up, or served and enjoyed good conversa-tion!!
