• Idea away from “vending machine government”• We pay money, expect services – don’t like the

services so we shake the vending machine, there needs to be a better solution

• Creativity boom from Apple and iTunes marketplace, how do we use this model for government innovation?

Gov 2.0 Initiatives - Local • Manor, Texas– Epicenter of Gov 2.0 – Impact on local Gov

• QR Code Program• Citizen Engagement

Portal• Pothole Reporting System

"The City of Manor's motivation to embrace Gov 2.0 principles came out of significant budgetary constraints that were beginning to impact our ability to serve our constituents. Manor does not have a significant tax base, yet we do have 6,500 people we must provide service to on a daily basis. As a city, we knew we could not afford to buy the industry solutions -- and financing technology just did not make sense, so we went another direction and began to innovate."

• San Ramon Fire Department App• Places CPR Certified residents in

a database, alerts them when there is a cardiac arrest dispatch in a public area and the nearest defibrillator.

• Spurred by the Fire Chief, dubbed, Fire Chief 2.0, being next door to someone having a cardiac arrest, but not being notified.
