First Lorikeet Legend in 2016
I was very pleased to present to Elycia of class 5C this year’s first Lorikeet Legend badge at last Friday’s school assembly.
Students are working hard to display the five Foundation Values of the You Can Do It (YCDI) program. This has been clearly demonstrated by the large number of Silver and Gold awards presented recently.
Well done to Elycia and all students who have achieved YCDI awards recently!
NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee
This week Jude - 3G, Amelia – 4H, Joowon – 5C and Bastian – 5C travelled to Ettalong Beach Public School to compete in the regional final for the NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee.
It is a fine achievement for students to represent our school in this competition. It is a very popular annual event with many students from other Central Coast schools participating.
Success at this level qualifies students for the State final to be held at the ABC studios in Ultimo. Good luck to our student representatives and I have no doubt that they will be great ambassadors for our school.
Once again, I appreciate the efforts of Miss Casamento for her efforts in coordinating our school’s participation in the NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee competition.

Students leaving in 2017
The school executive is in the process of organising staffing models for 2017. It is important for parents and carers to inform our school office in writing or by phone (43 493600) should their child/ren not be continuing at Gosford Public School in 2017.
It is equally important for the school to be informed of new enrolments if it is known that new families with primary-aged students are moving into our school zone.
Kindergarten 2017
Our office is currently taking enrolments from parents and carers who have a child who is due to commence at Gosford Public School in kindergarten from the beginning of 2017.
I would be grateful if current parents could encourage other parents who reside within our school boundaries to contact our office (ph. 43 493600) if they have children who are due to commence school in 2017.
Puzzle Master
I enjoyed helping to present this term’s Puzzle Master Awards on Monday to Stage 2 and Stage 3 students.
Congratulations to all winners and well done to the many participants who have enjoyed the mathematical challenges that the Puzzle Master has presented on a weekly basis throughout this past term. In fact, after next term the Puzzle Master (AKA Mrs Hodgson) will retire from both her Puzzle Master and classroom duties. This will be sad for our school as Mrs Hodgson’s outstanding contributions at Gosford Public School extend to over 20 years with both of her own children having been students during that time. Puzzle Master is a unique and terrific initiative which originated over 8 years ago. It has provided fun and stimulating problem-solving activities for our students on a regular basis throughout that time.
Well done and thank you Mrs Hodgson!
Use of the REMIND App
The use of the REMIND App has been very successful in enabling teachers and parents to facilitate greater
communication. However, I do request that parents and carers refrain from contacting teachers late in the evening, early morning, weekends and vacation times. Many teachers use their phones to receive their REMIND messages and it is important
that they have uninterrupted family time when they are away from school. It is also important that any Urgent Messages NOT be sent via REMIND, they need to be communicated to the school
as soon as possible. Your cooperation with this will be greatly appreciated by our teaching staff.

3 Quality education in a nurturing, innovative learning environment
As this is the final newsletter for Term 3, I would like to thank our school community (teachers, students and parents/carers) for their combined efforts. As a result, our staff were able to effectively deliver a variety of learning and cross curricula opportunities.
I wish all staff and students a safe and happy spring break and look forward to a successful Term 4. A reminder that there is NOT a designated Staff Development Day to commence the term and as such classes will resume on Monday
10th October.

Many thanks to the parents/carers who have taken the time to complete the online survey. Our goal is to receive a response from all our families. If we hit this goal, we would be thrilled!
