FROM THE PRINCIPAL Dear Parents and Carers, Last week was a very busy week with Stage 1 attending Powerhouse Museum and some of our Support Unit students attending the Northcott Interschool Junior Athletics. Schools are incredibly busy places and I thank the staff for the wide range of opportunities that they provide and organise for our students. Bathurst Excursion As some parents are aware, most of Year 5 and 6, Students including our Stage 3 students from our Support Classes, are going to Bathurst for three days from this Wednesday. It is a huge three days that I know our kids really enjoy. We have 7 staff going and I thank them for not only going on the excursion, but also taking time away from their families. The opportunity for our students to see so many things while away with their friends, while learning a few things, makes it very worthwhile. Spring School Holidays Just a reminder that the School holidays begin on Monday 30 th September with students and staff returning on Monday 14 th October. There is NO Pupil Free Day at the beginning of Term 4 so we all start back on the same day. Term 4 We have many exciting things planned for next term. We have students participating in the Central Coast Choral Festival, Grandparents Day, Swim Scheme and Water Safety Program and our new kindy students and families commence the transition program. I ask you all to keep an eye on the calendar in the newsletter for events coming up and look out for notes home and messages on the Skoolbag App. Graeme McLeod Principal Website: www.gosfordest-p.schools.nsw.edu.au Email: [email protected] Fax: 02 4323 6930 Tel: 02 4325 2178 GOSFORD EAST PUBLIC SCHOOL Cnr York & Webb Streets East Gosford NSW 2250 Term 3 – Week 8 Tuesday 10 th September 2019

On Wednesday 4th September K-6W and K-6J competed in the Northcott Interschool Junior Athletics Carnival. All students were assigned a category that allowed them to compete against other students with similar abilities. There was a 50m race, an egg and spoon race and a beanbag event in the main arena. There was also a timed obstacle course, modified shot put and modified discus event to participate in. All students who attended tried their very best and had a great time on the day. Special thanks to Matt our volunteer driver, Steve our parent volunteer & Northcott for putting on such a fantastic event.

On Wednesday the 28th August, 1F, 1S, 2H, 2C, 3-6M and K-6J attended an excursion to the Powerhouse Museum. We arrived, beaming with excitement, after an early start. After a quick recess break to refuel, we were off. Throughout our visit, the students explored numerous exhibitions including 'Interface', 'Space' and 'The Wiggles', with the 'Experiments Lab' being a stand out favourite. The students had an amazing time at the museum and were exhausted by the end of the day - making for a quiet journey home. Their behaviour was to be commended and the students were proud representatives of Gosford East Public School. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parent helpers that gave up their time to assist with the smooth running of this excursion.

On Wednesday morning Stage 3 students and their teachers will be heading off for three days of wonderful experiences in and around Bathurst. First stop – Scenic World. After lunch we will get back on the buses and head to Lithgow State Mine to learn more about Australia’s early mining history. After dinner we will participate in a Trivia Night. On Thursday we head to History Hill to step back in time. We will finish off the day with some dancing at the Bush Dance. Friday morning, after packing our bags and enjoying breakfast, we will spend some time on a farm, take a spin around Mount Panorama and visit a National Park before heading back to school. Our adventures will be updated on our school facebook page each day. Lisa Brookes Stage 3 Leader

IMPORTANT Just before Term 2 school holidays we had a discrepancy with our weekly reconciliation. This amount was sent to the bank and is waiting for ‘the owner’ to come forward so it can be deposited into their account. Could parents please check their child’s account and send me a message or email if you believe this amount is yours. You will need to confirm the date this deposit should have been made and the amount. We will then contact the bank and ensure this amount is deposited into your child’s account. I can be contacted at [email protected] or 0405 075 578.
