• It is famous for industry – coal mines and steel mills.

• There are many interesting places and cities on the Upper Silesia.

KATOWICE

Katowice is the main city and the capital of the Upper Silesia (Górny Śląsk). There is an airport here.

TARNOWSKIE GÓRY

Tarnowskie Góry isn’t one of the biggest cities in Upper Silesia but it’s very interesting. There is an AQUA PARK here. Every year there is a festival called „GWARKI”. You can listen to the best Polish bands and meet people in historical costumes at the same time!

Interesting Train

Narrow Gauge Railway connects Bytom and Miasteczko Śląskie. This railway is 160 years old. You can still go on a trip in a historical

carriage.

Pławniowice Palace

The palace was built in 1737. There is a beautiful park around the castle. Pławniowice is a little town near Gliwice.

Gliwice

Market Square in GliwiceGliwice is one of the

biggest cities in the region. It’s a very nice place.
