"Hey Tiffany," said Jezebelle sweetly, sitting on top of the front steps with her hair in

pigtails.Tiffany had been out to grab the mail that evening when Jezebelle greeted her,

"What do you want?""Are you still against Jin being the most popular boy in school?" asked Jezebelle

curiously."What does it matter to you?" asked Tiffany, irked.Jezebelle smirked. "If I were to tell you that I can get the athletes to get along with

the brainiacs, would you believe me?""That's impossible," said Tiffany, checking the mail one by one now."Did you think it was possible for Jin to replace Jordan so quickly?" asked Jezebelle

with an innocent smile.

"I've actually got some information on you," said Tiffany, coming up to Jezebelle now.She also wanted to change the subject. "You used to go to private schools until high schoolwhere you go to Long Beach Polytechnic High."

Jezebelle was amused. "How did you find out about that?""I talked to Mr. Song for a bit yesterday.""It seems like my father likes to gloat about his daughter at work too much," said

Jezebelle, smirking."I also heard how you often come to the workplace with your father," said Tiffany

cautiously. "Now, why would your father take you to the workplace at all?""He likes my company.""I doubt that," said Tiffany immediately.

Jezebelle giggled darkly. "I guess that lie was way too obvious.""I'm not really interested in your life," said Tiffany quickly. "But it's hard to find

information on you as it is.""Why are you interested in me anyways?" asked Jezebelle, feigning innocence."It'll be nice to spread a rumor or two about you," said Tiffany, wrapping her arms in

front of her chest. "I might not have too much of a problem with Jin being at the top of thefood chain, but you I cannot accept."

"You are way too honest with your intentions," said Jezebelle, amused. "Since you'rebeing such a good girl, how about I tell you something very interesting about myself?"Jezebelle tilted her head. "Not that you can make anyone else believe you even if youspread it."

Tiffany lifted a brow. "What is it?""The reason why my father brings me along to the work place is because," said

Jezebelle, pausing and smirking at Tiffany's interested face. "I'm useful in keeping him asthe head of the company."

"You're right," said Tiffany, laughing weakly. "I don't believe you.""Told you.""Why would your father need you to keep the company under his control? That

doesn't make any sense."Jezebelle smiled beautifully. "Neither does the athletes and brainiacs talking to one

another but that'll happen soon." Jezebelle heaved herself up to her feet. "When thathappens, I need your help to do your job as usual." Jezebelle made sure she was safelyinside Jin's house before she said to herself, "Like I thought, public school students are somuch fun."

"Fi," said Jin, poking his head out from the kitchen. "Dinnertime!""Did you see all the on-sale clothes I bought?" asked Jezebelle, skipping after him.

Jin blinked at her. "Is that why all the money in wallet is gone?""It is for a good cause unlike your video games," said Jezebelle, sitting down at thekitchen table.

"I'm actually saving up to buy a MP3 player," said Jin, stirring the soup he had made."Soon enough, Jordan and I will have matching MP3 players."

Jezebelle frowned as Jin placed a bowl of soup in front of her. "About Jordan. Is hestill living at Shiratori's house?"

"How do you know about that?" asked Jin in awe."I know about everything," said Jezebelle, insulted. "Well? Is he?""He should be... I think?"Jezebelle picked up her spoon and glanced away. "I see."

*********************************************************************What the fuck?Jordan Greene had been sleeping when something struck his face. After he cried out

loud and sat up, he noticed how dark the room was. His sore back caused him to groan.Picking up the object that had hit his face, Jordan aimed carefully and returned it to itsowner.

Ow!You deserved it, said Jordan in a whiny voice. You hit me for no reason...I have a perfectly valid reason, said Rin, sitting up in her bed. I can't go back to

sleep with you muttering so loudly!I don't mutter in my sleep, said Jordan defensively.

You do too!Jordan scowled. What did I say then?You didn't say anything comprehensible, said Rin, leaning over the bed and striking

the top of his head with the pillow. Go back to sleep and don't mutter this time.Like I can help it, said Jordan, laying his head back on his pillow resting on the

makeshift sheets on the floor. Besides, the floor is hard and cold and I don't want to sleephere. Rin didn't say anything. Instead, she turned and showed her back to him from highup bed. I can't believe your father is sleeping in the guest room. Why can't he sleep withyour mother instead? I want to sleep in that room...

You shouldn't be whining, said Rin irritably. I saved you from sleeping on thecouch in the living room.

Frankly, I would rather sleep there, since it's softer.Rin scowled. Fine. Go then. I don't care.I'm coming then, said Jordan, smiling cutely and heaving himself up on top of her

bed. Like I thought, it's much softer and warmer here. Good night, Ri-chan.Hey, said Rin, pushing him away from her. You're not allowed up here!But the ground is so cold...I don't care, said Rin, pushing him harder. I can't have you sleeping in my bed!Jordan glanced over his shoulder. Why not?Because, because, said Rin, blushing and looking around for an excuse. You're a

boy and I'm a girl and we shouldn't be sleeping in the same bed in the first place. You knowthe rules, Jordan. You've been around.

Last time I checked, said Jordan, smiling sweetly. We slept together oncealready. Rin pouted, daring him to continue. Seriously, it doesn't matter does it? Jordanmanaged to push back against Rin and retrieve his spot next to her. We don't have thattype of relationship, and we don't find each other sexually attractive.

Rin frowned. Yes, I know, but-But?Flushing bright red, Rin showed her back to him again and spoke in a softer tone,

Kristian used to sleep there so...Oh, said Jordan, blinking. I'm sorry. I'll get off. It's not funny anymore.No, said Rin, whirling around and grabbing hold of his collar. It's okay. I'm being

sentimental that's all. Jordan nodded in understanding. And for the record, it's four in themorning. Why am I talking to you about this?

Jordan laid down on his side and stared at her. You've been thinking about him?Somewhat, said Rin shyly.That's really cute, Ri-chan, said Jordan, placing his left hand on top of her head.

You'll convince him later today. I know you will.Rin frowned. It's not that easy. He's been cheated on once.If you don't give up, said Jordan, rubbing her hair fondly. He'll notice and give in

eventually. Kristian's really a softie when it comes to you.But our relationship in general is in trouble, said Rin sadly.Yeah, said Jordan in agreement. You said something about how you two would

have broken up anyway for other reasons. Jordan sighed. You just have to learn from yourpast mistakes and not do them again. At least then, the relationship will grow.

If I were to get back with Kristian, you'll probably have to find someone else to talkto, Jordan.

Jordan laughed. It's fine. I'm fine.

I can't be with both Kristian and you, said Rin quietly.I know that already. I have Jin remember?Rin did not look convinced. Come on Jordan. You know Jin has Jezebelle too. He

can't always be with you.I'll be fine, said Jordan optimistically.I really love Kristian, Jordan.Yeah...But, said Rin, glancing away. I don't want you to have such awful thoughts like

you did yesterday either. Jordan sighed again. Rin laughed miserably to herself. Eventhough Jin and I have been best friends for so long, it is not until now do I truly understandhow he feels.

What do you mean? asked Jordan curiously at the mention of Jin.He said that he would pick you and Jezebelle over me because you two need him

more. Jezebelle would be alone. She would have no one other than him. As for you, youwould be lost without him. He would never leave you alone.

He said that? asked Jordan, feeling guilty and happy at the same time.He's right though, said Rin at last. You do need him. You do need someone who

will spend time with you.When you put it that way, I feel like a burden again.Shaking her head, Rin said, You're not a burden, Jordan. On the contrary, I'm the

one who's the burden to him. Rin paused and then continued with more regret in hervoice, I'm always in his way of doing what he wants to do. I'm the one who keeps trying tomake him go back to how he used to be when he doesn't want to. I keep telling myself thateven if he doesn't like it, I'm doing all this for his own good, but really, Rin bit her lip. It'sfor my own this entire time. I did it out of jealousy that he has so many other people hecan protect other than me.

You shouldn't feel that way, said Jordan softly. All of us feel that way at onepoint. They are our moments of vulnerability.No, it's not that simple, said Rin, tearing up slightly. He wants to help you and

Jezebelle. He doesn't want you two to be alone. He's such a good person but why is he soblind? Rin closed her eyes. Can't he see that the reason why we're best friends all theseyears is because he's mypillar of support? Rin opened her eyes and wiped the tears awayquickly. Ever since he's gone from my life, I've been so unstable. I've been crying moreafter our trio broke up than I did for all of junior high and the first two years of high school.Kristian helped me for a bit but after a while, I realized that he couldn't be a replacementfor Jin. No one could.

I can sort of understand where Jin is coming from though, said Jordan, gaining

Rin's immediate attention. Before these past few weeks, I thought you were a really strongperson, Ri-chan. You just give off that vibe whenever we talk on campus.That can be said about you though, said Rin in retort. You give off a confident,

strong vibe on campus too. Who would have thought you have such negative thoughts?But really, said Jordan, watching her. Jin probably knows you need him as much

as I need him.Then...Listen, said Jordan, tapping her nose to stop her from arguing back. The

difference is that, right when you guys break up as friends, you got together with Kristiandidn't you? Rin nodded. If I know Jin as well as I do, I'd say that Jin is giving his blessingto you and Kristian. Your boyfriend should take his place in being there for you in your

times of need. Unlike me, Jordan sighed. He knows that he shouldn't be your emotionalfriend.Rin lowered her eyes. I see. That does make sense.He's been so busy nowadays anyways, said Jordan, frowning.That's true...I don't want to bother him much with my problems, if I can help it, said Jordan

firmly. Rin bobbed her head in agreement. You too, Ri-chan. We should both try to bemore independent of Jin from now on.

I want to, said Rin assertively. Because I've been so selfish in trying to get himback for my own benefit that I'm disgusted with myself. I'm sure if Jin wasn't so nice andsweet, he would be disgusted with everything I've been doing up until now too.

God, said Jordan loudly. Rin nearly jumped. You're so hard on yourself, Ri-chan.I've always been like that though, said Rin honestly.Jordan laid on his back now and combed his hair with his fingers. What is this

feeling?What?This is the first time I've been in this type of relationship with a girl, said Jordan,

brushing his hair with his fingers again.Rin blinked. What are you talking about?I mean, said Jordan, clarifying. I've been in all sorts of relationships before. Open

relationships. Casual relationships. On-off relationships. Sexual relationships. Even friendswith benefits relationships. Jordan stopped and glanced in Rin's direction. But this is thefirst time I'm in an emotional relationship.

These terms are still new to me, said Rin quietly.After our emotional affair, said Jordan, shaking his head. You should be more

careful with these things. Do you know what 'friend with benefits' mean?

Rin shook her head, as if ashamed of herself. No, not really.Sex buddies, said Jordan, laughing at the expression on Rin's face. They do whatboyfriends and girlfriends do, except without the commitment and feelings involved.Jordan turned on his side again. We're the opposite. No sex. No physical attraction. Butwe're emotionally involved with one another.

I did it without knowing too, said Rin lamely.Jordan patted her casually on the arm. Figure things out with Kristian first, okay Ri-

chan? Because then, I can decide on what we should do from now on.What do you suggest? asked Rin, interested.I suggest that we become our own version of friends with benefits, said Jordan,

sitting up on the bed now. Rin blinked, confused. The emotional kind. I don't want to

bother Jin, with his busy schedule and bitchy girlfriend and all, any more than you do.Yes...We should just bother each other then, said Jordan casually, beaming. To be quite

honest, I've been using girlfriends as emotional supports since forever. I can't stand beingalone. I can't stand not talking about my thoughts and feelings to someone. But if you'll bemy emotional friend, I don't need to hurt and break up with so many girls.

Rin paled slightly. I don't know Jordan. This is the very reason why Kristian and Ibroke up in the first place.

That's why I ask you try to make up with him first. This is only option number two.You're right though, said Rin, frowning. I do need an emotional friend. Bo's no

good at it. Jin's not available anymore. Vance might get fed up with it. And Kristian is out of

the question at this point. This way, I won't be so hung up on losing Jin anymore.I can be brilliant sometimes, said Jordan, wrapping his arms behind his neck.Oh shut up, said Rin, amused.So, said Jordan, using his elbow to lift his head up. Why don't your parents share

a room? Why do they have to sleep separately?I don't know. The guest room used to be his room. They've been sleeping separately

since I was born.Jordan shook his head disapprovingly. I don't know what kind of crack your father is

on, but when I get married, I'll never do anything like this.Really, said Rin carelessly.Jordan pulled Rin into a hug. My wife and I must share a room and a bed. It's not

even for the sex. It's warm and comfortable to sleep with somebody, that's all.Rin shrugged off his embrace. What are you implying?I'm not implying anything, said Jordan innocently. Except, Jordan dragged her

back and rubbed her head affectionately. Since I am wifeless and girlfriend-less, my petwill have to do for now.

I'm not your pet!Not according to our agreement, said Jordan, amused. You're not tutoring me

now, are you? Have you forgotten already?Rin remembered and said to herself, It's only petting. It's only petting. If it were

Kristian, he would go way further than that.While hugging and petting Rin, Jordan frowned to himself. He didn't know why, but

he felt sad thinking about how he had to stop relying on Jin so much. He wanted to rely onJin but he knew, at the same time, it was selfish of him to do so. He found it funny how hehad become Jin's replacement for Rin and how she had become Jin's replacement for him.They had both just wanted to be with Jin, but found each other instead.

******************************************Laying on his stomach, Kristian played with his cell phone in his hands. He hadn't toldanyone about his breakup with Rin yet. Knowing her, she hadn't told anyone either. At themoment, only she, he, and Jordan knew about this breakup. If he wanted to pretend noneof it had happened and return to how things had used to be, Kristian could easily do so. Hispride wouldn't let him though. He had been in love twice and he had been cheated ontwice. His track record was terrible.

Kristian accidentally flipped open his phone and stared blankly at the picture of Rinas his wallpaper. Groaning, Kristian threw his phone aside and curled himself into a ball. Hehad hardly had a wink of sleep. All he could think about was Rin and everything they sharedtogether for the past month. Rin was the last person he thought would cheat on him. He

was gravely mistaken though. Because he saw her less, she had had an emotional affairwith Jordan of all people. Knowing her, she didn't even realize it. It was no excuse though.Still, Kristian had to go about his day through his normal routine, or else Jinx would

notice and drag Crystal and Rex into his personal life. That was the last thing he wantedright now- sympathy from his relatives. He was actually too embarrassed about theirbreakup. Before, he had convinced himself that the other person would only cheat on him ifthere had been something wrong with him or something he lacked. But after he spoke withJezebelle that one time, he learned that that wasn't the only way to look at it. Anotherreason why his girlfriend would cheat on him would be because she didn't have thestrength, or will, to break up with him. That thought was somewhat comforting to him rightnow as he turned on the water to take a quick shower.

Why do I feel empty instead of bitter though? Kristian asked out loud in theshower. He had been standing there and thinking for a whole five minutes without touchingthe shampoo or body wash. It's like there's something lacking... something that is differentabout this one compared to the other ones...

Over in Rin's house, she was also in the shower when thinking about Kristian andwhat she should say to him when they meet up at noon. She had already sent him a textmessage and an e-mail, just in case he had blocked her on his cell phone. In the middle ofher shower, when she thought of Kristian's nickname, she gasped to herself.

Jordan, Jordan! cried Rin, rushing out of the bathroom. Jordan emerged from herroom with wide eyes. If we break up, I'll ruin Kristian's reputation! I'm still a virgin! Hecan't break up with me, can he? Can he? He loves maintaining his reputation!

Calm down, said Jordan, lifting a brow. Put some clothes on first.Rin tugged the towel around her body up higher. Right. One second.Standing outside of the bathroom, Jordan said loud enough for her to hear on the

other side, You think about having sex with your boyfriend in the shower?Shut up Jordan! cried Rin, tugging on a skirt. That's very inconvenient too!Inconvenient? asked Jordan, frowning. How would you know?Obviously, it is. There's soap and water everywhere.That's not what I mean though, said Jordan, laughing at her now. Rin flushed bright

red on the other side of the door. I mean, were you thinking about sex in there? What

made you come to that conclusion right after a shower?Rin scowled. I thought about his nickname...Sure, said Jordan, shrugging. Sure you did.I did!Anyways, said Jordan, letting her off the hook for now. Are you regretting it

already? After less than one day of separation?

Regret what?Jordan chuckled. You know, not having sex.There was a long pause. It was so long that Jordan was afraid that she was going to

burst through the door when he least expected it and jump on his back and attack him onlike she had yesterday. Instead, Rin came out of the restroom, fully dressed in a t-shirt anda skirt. She was wearing a bright red skirt that looked awfully familiar to Jordan for somereason. Rin blushed slightly and sighed.

Do I look okay? asked Rin softly, glancing away.Fine, I guess, said Jordan awkwardly.Rin sighed again. I don't know whether I regret it or not. I'm not sure really. Rin

paused and went inside her room with Jordan behind her. Think of it this way. If we really

did it, would I be cursing or thanking myself for this breakup right now? I have no ideabecause we never did it. I wouldn't let him. Rin glanced over her shoulder Jordan. Whatdo you think?

You like to put me on the spot don't you?Fine. Don't answer.Jordan sighed. It depends on whether or not you really regret not taking advantage

of all those opportunities you two had. If you're not ready, you're not ready.I'll take that answer for now, said Rin with a nod. She noticed that Jordan still

hadn't changed. Jordan, you're not going to change? What if my father sees you like this?One, he and your mother seem to have disappeared, said Jordan, looking around

the house. And two, all my clothes are dirty and I have a date later today, too.

Put it in the washing machine then, said Rin, shrugging.I've never done the laundry before, said Jordan, ashamed. I don't know how.Why are you so lame?Jordan jerked a brow up. Teach me how, then.Caught, Rin flushed red. I... forgot! I forgot how to do the laundry! Happy?What do we do then? asked Jordan, rubbing the back of his neck.I know, said Rin, brightening up. But this will be so embarrassing...The two stood side by side in front of the washing machine with their heads pressed

against Jordan's cell phone. Apparently, they had woken Jin up in order to ask him how todo the laundry. Jin wasn't bothered though as he explained the process to Jordan who had ablank look on his face. If it weren't for Rin not wanting Jin to hear her voice, she would

have laughed.Wait, said Jordan, dumbfounded. What about the in-between colors? Like lime

green or light pink?You wear light pink shirts? asked Rin under her breath.And what about jeans, again? asked Jordan, frowning.Rin rolled her eyes. Even I know that one... I hope.This is too complicated, cried Jordan out loud. I'll figure it out myself.Jin stopped Jordan from hanging up. You are living with Kristian right? I believe

Kristian knows how to do the laundry. Why don't you ask him?

Jordan glanced at Rin, who also heard Jin's question. Rin mouthed, Don't tell him.I can't lie to Jin, said Jordan, insulted. Rin pouted. Actually, I'm staying over at

Ri-chan's house at the moment.There was an awkward silence before Jin gasped, I'm coming over! Right away!Jordan blinked and shifted his attention to Rin. He said he's coming.Why? asked Rin, exasperated.

It probably has to do with your lack of laundry skills.Rin scowled. He has no faith in my housework skills at all!I don't blame him, said Jordan carelessly. Rin looked curious. Jordan backed away

from her slightly. Because, you need practice. Lots and lots of practice.I don't have time, said Rin stubbornly. I study a lot you know. I also have

extracurricular activities and online work to take care of.Jordan nodded. I know.Who are you going out with anyways? asked Rin suddenly, leaning against the

washing machine.Is that a hint of jealousy I'm hearing? asked Jordan playfully.No, said Rin, glaring. I'm just wondering which poor girl you pick up this time.

Let's see, said Jordan, relaxing next to her. We're not really dating. We're justgoing out on a date.Rin poked Jordan in the shoulder. Who?Sandara?Rin blinked. Oh. Her. The one Kristian recommended.She's nice, said Jordan with a smile.She is? asked Rin, thinking. She's okay. I don't know her that well.She's well-endowed in all the right places, said Jordan, widening his smile.Jordan Greene, said Rin angrily, making him jump slightly. Is that all you think

about? Seriously? You're worse than Kristian.Jordan shrugged. Unlike uncertain you, I know I regret not sleeping with Roselle.

That's horrible, Jordan.I'm just being honest, said Jordan, sighing. Because, knowing Sandara and herpride as a Mexican woman, I won't be getting any for a long time, even if she agrees to dateme. I didn't think I'd be this deprived for this long.

It won't kill you, said Rin, stating a fact.It feels like it, said Jordan, releasing another heavy sigh. I know it, too, because

even you're starting to look good. And that's troubling.That's comforting, Jordan.What's the deal with your anti-sex ways anyways? asked Jordan suddenly.Rin blushed. I'm not against it! I just, Rin paused and thought about it. I find most

boys sexless.

Most? asked Jordan, curious. Like Jin and Bo?Definitely, said Rin, nodding. Especially those two.I guess I'm not special then, said Jordan, shrugging. Rin shook her head. Who isn't

sexless to you?I'm not answering that.Kristian?Rin flushed red. I'm not answering that!Fine, said Jordan, glancing away. I'm the opposite.Obviously, said Rin, amused.

With the exception of Jin really, but he's not a girl, said Jordan, blushing now. Ican't see myself sleeping with him. I do think and care more about him than any other girlalive. It's tormenting in a way.

If only Jezebelle wasn't in the way... said Rin, shaking her head.It doesn't matter, said Jordan, heaving himself off the washing machine. Rin did

the same. He's coming to see us now. Rin brightened up. Which begs the question- what

in the world is Jezebelle doing? Jin doesn't like leaving her at home by herself.She's an independent woman, said Rin, shrugging. She does her own things mostof the time.

And she gets all the attention, said Jordan, envious.Rin rolled her eyes. I know. It's unfair.Anyways, said Jordan, pointing at his laundry. Should I wear blue or green?

***************************************You are cute!Before Jin dropped Jezebelle off at the mall, she had straightened her hair and tied

it in pigtails, the same way she did whenever she wanted to be cute. Instead of using herusual makeup, she used lighter blush and colors. Like she expected, Lionard was impressed.

She had told him that she could be cute if she wanted to but he hadn't believed her.However, that wasn't why he wanted to see her again. It was because of her reply.I told you so, said Jezebelle, crossing her legs under the table. I can say the same

about you.Lionard was dressed in furry, white clothes, a scarf, and a hat. It was like he was

dressed up for a snow festival, which made him stand out more in the middle of the foodcourt. Since Jezebelle loved fashion or anything fashion-related, she knew she would getalong with Lionard after noticing how he kept staring at feminine, cute stuff.

I knitted all of these myself, said Lionard proudly.Jezebelle clasped her fingers together and placed her chin on top of them. That's

charming.

Knitting releases stress from studying, said Lionard, touching his furry scarf fondly.It must have taken a lot of effort to be in the top six of the school.Lionard grinned. You know, it's a piece of cake for me really. Lionard had sparkles

in his eyes. I love cakes. They're delicious, especially the ones with the little strawberrieson them!

Jezebelle had a glint of amusement in her eyes, though she didn't show it on herface. Lionard right?

At your service, Jezebelle Tilly.Besides Rin Hamada, said Jezebelle, recrossing her legs. This is the first time I've

spoken to an intellectual. Is that the right word for you guys nowadays?I suppose, said Lionard, indicating at the nearby candy store. Mind if I buy myself

some before I figure things out between us?Sure, said Jezebelle, relaxing in her chair. I need preparations anyway.Lionard flashed her a grin. Please do.He doesn't feel or act like a nerd, said Jezebelle to herself, thinking. It's weird.After Lionard returned with a lollipop, he asked Jezebelle for her measurements. She

gave them without a hint of embarrassment on her face. Lionard took notes in his whitenotebook, nodding his head. Jezebelle watched him design a dress for her in that notebook.Lionard wanted to use her as a model for his clothes. Of all things, Jezebelle didn't havethe heart to say no to that. She wanted to become a fashion designer one day.

been like this?Like what? asked Lionard sweetly, feigning ignorance.Been feminine, said Jezebelle bluntly.Lionard placed the sugary lollipop slowly in his mouth. Since forever.

What else do you enjoy besides knitting, designing clothes, and shopping?Everything else, said Lionard, smiling at how vague he was. I don't really want totalk about it. My parents are Jewish. They've always been against my hobbies.

Jezebelle stared straight into his eyes. Why?Lionard glanced away, reddening. They said I shouldn't be gay.Are you gay? asked Jezebelle in a teasing voice.I hope not, said Lionard, frowning. I love girls. They fascinate me. I want to be

He didn't catch a glimpse of either of them when the waitress led themto an empty table in the far corner. Sitting down, Jordan was thankful for this spot. Atleast, from this angle, he could see the rest of the restaurant. He didn't even rememberwhat he ordered when Jin came over to them. The waitress left with their orders.

Jin said something that made me realize something very important. The sightof Rin Hamada and Kristian fighting also made me realize what I need to do. Sandara took

a step away from Jordan and ended, That this is not where I should be right now.At least, said Jordan, following her. Let me to drive you home.Sandara pouted. I guess it couldn't hurt. I want to be home as fast as possible.Quickly, Jordan paid for his meal and left with Sandara. He noticed that Rin and Jin

were back at their original table. Jordan had already told them that he would return afterhe had dropped Sandara off. Both Rin and Jin appeared relieved when they heard this. Thismade Jordan feel better about the whole situation. He really wanted to be there for themsince they were his true friends.

During the car drive home, Sandara appeared lost in thought, so Jordan didn't sayanything. When they arrived at her house, though, Sandara released one, long sigh. Jordanpressed the button to unlock the door, though, and got out his car to help her out. Once

they were standing in front of her house, Sandara had a soft smile on his face.It's a shame, Jordan Greene, said Sandara playfully.What is? asked Jordan, clueless.I really like you, and I think you're a good kid, said Sandara, tilting her head. It's

too bad that we can't date officially. Jordan noticed an almost regretful look from her. Atthis important point in my life, I can't lose sight of my goal.

Of being a pediatrician? asked Jordan for confirmation.Yes, said Sandara, nodding. Therefore, I cannot fall in love.Understandable.That's why, said Sandara, holding her hand out to Jordan. If you're really going to

USC, and not planning on marrying Victoria Hopkins anymore, I might consider going out

with you someday. Sandara smiled brightly. Hopefully, then, you'll be a much strongerJordan Greene.

Almost tearful, Jordan grabbed her hand and shook it. Most definitely.I won't wait for you forever, though, said Sandara in warning when they release

hands. There are a lot of fine men out there stronger than you, you know.Jordan laughed at her comment. Noted.And tell your friend, Jin, something for me, said Sandara, turning around and

inserting her house key in. She unlocked the door and faced him again. Tell him toconsider me a Jin Song fan.

Will do, said Jordan, winking.Staring inside her house, Sandara was about to go inside when she laughed and said,

What the hell. Just this once. Much to Jordan's surprise, Sandara hugged him and kissedhim lightly against the cheek. You take care, Jordan Greene. See you at school.

Blinking, Jordan gawked at the closed door. Soon enough, he recovered and laughed.I won't forget our little fling, Sandara.

Inside her house, Sandara went up to her parents who were now mad at each other.They were staying in different parts of the house. Sandara didn't like this so she told themboth that she had something to say. Once they were in the living room together, Sandaraplaced her hands on her hips and smiled at them.

Dad, said Sandara, nodding at her father. I'll get married one day and have kidslike you want me to. I love kids. I want to have some of my own, so you don't have to worryabout that. Sandara shifted her attention to her mother. Mom, I'll go to USC and becomea pediatrician. I'll make enough money to be self sufficient and not depend on my husbandlike you want me too. Both her parents stared at her, speechless. This was the first timeSandara had ever told them what she thought of her future. I am beginning to understandsomething very important. I like the individualistic American culture I grew up in, and I've

learned a lot from it, but, Sandara had tears of joy in her eyes. I also really love myHispanic background. I want to compromise between the two, because that is who I am. Iwill try my best, so Mom and Dad, you two should too.

In her room, Sandara listened to her parents talk in friendly terms with each other. Ithad been too long since they had been happy with one another. Sandara thought about howJin defended Frida, who had a similar background to her. Like Jin said, even if her peoplehad a horrible reputation, she would prove that she was not to be stereotyped. Sandara wasgoing to prove it with her character every day if possible. Not only that, she was going toprove it for all the other misunderstood Hispanic women in her school as well. They alldeserved to be recognized.

Maybe, said Sandara, laying on top of her bed. Maybe you'll be the lucky man and

marry me someday... Sandara hugged her pillow to her chest. Right Jordan Greene?****************************************Returning to his friends in the basement, Kristian returned to pool like nothing

happened. Both Gary and Cory stared at him, mentally asking him who had called andshouted at him so loudly that they could hear from a distance away. Kristian knew exactlywhat they were doing, but he felt that he should keep his love life private for now.

Kristian? asked Cory, mustering courage. What happened?The last time I canceled a date with Rin-chan, said Kristian, grouchy. You

accidentally told someone and that person told everyone else, remember Cory?I won't tell anyone this time without your consent! said Cory in a hurry.Softening up a bit, Kristian lifted his eyes up to Cory. Cory had been his best friend

since forever. He and Cory were as close as Rin and Jin. He remembered how it was Sandarawho had introduced him to Joseph Cruz. He remembered how it was Jordan who hadintroduced him to Gary. Last but not least, it was Rin who had introduced him to Roselle.Unlike them, Cory had always stuck with him. Sure, everyone made fun of Cory, calling him'Shiratori's Bitch' but the white boy didn't mind. He was the only friend in the world whosaw what Kristian went through with his first girlfriend, and now, his twelfth girlfriend.

Sandara's mad at me, said Kristian, aiming at his object ball. She said she saw mygirlfriend by herself at that Mexican restaurant and that I should be ashamed of myself topick my pride over her safety.

And? asked Cory and Gary in unison.Kristian laughed it off. I'm not stupid. She's not stupid. Rin-chan is never anywhere

by herself. I bet you anything Jordan's with her.And what's wrong with that? asked Cory innocently.There's everything wrong with that.No, there isn't, said Cory, confused. Gary nodded in agreement with Cory. Rin

Hamada can't drive. Her boyfriend is not there on time to meet her. No sane girl would waitthere by herself. It's embarrassing and scary.Cory, said Kristian, glaring. Are you opposing me?I'm not opposing you, said Cory, putting on a brave face. I'm stating what I think

about what's going on between you and your girlfriend.She's not my girlfriend, said Kristian under his breath, surprising Cory. Anymore.Then why would she want to talk to you if it's over between you two?Cory, you're really dumb, said Kristian, shaking his head. He couldn't concentrate

on pool any longer. She knows she's in the wrong so she wants to apologize. If not, whywould she let go of her pride and ask me out to talk? If I were in the wrong, she wouldn't dothe same.

Cory blinked. Kristian, when did you start caring for yourself more than her?Kristian gawked at Cory. That's not true! I love Rin-chan more than myself. She's theone who has done me wrong though. Why should I talk it out with her?

Because, said Cory, shrugged. You love her?You can't use that word so carelessly, Cory.I'm not, said Cory, flustered. I'm simply pointing out that if you really love her and

want to be with her, you shouldn't be like this. Cory glanced over at Gary who agreed.And it's hard for me to believe she's the only one in the wrong when you decide to take upa job without telling her. I don't think it's fair to keep that away from her and expect her tobe completely honest with you. It's too one-sided.

Kristian turned his back to Cory. You talk too much sometimes, Cory.

I don't know what's going on between you and Rin Hamada, but if it's something thatshe's willing to sit down and resolve with you, it means there's hope for you both.Cory, said Kristian, sighing. She had an emotional affair behind my back.That's not good, said Cory, gasping. If you keep this up, you'll lose to the

emotional friend. Kristian glanced over his shoulder at Cory. We watched dramastogether back in the old days, remember? Kristian's eyes widened. The girl eventuallyfalls for the emotional friend, more so if she's on the rebound. Are you willing to lose tothat guy?

Go Kristian, said Gary in his deep, almost incomprehensible voice.Kristian gawked at Gary, since he had decided to talk. Gary, you too?Come on Kristian, said Cory, pushing Kristian. You're the Virgin Killer. You're one of

the most popular boys in school. How can you let her go this easily? Without a fight?Without saying anything, Kristian left the basement in a hurry. Cory smiled after

Kristian when Gary said something under his breath. At Gary's words, Cory stared at thetaller boy with a surprise look on his face.

I'm used to it, Gary, said Cory, pretending to laugh. It's been like this sinceseventh grade. Kristian is always with some new girl and forgets about me. Gary saidsomething else to which Cory shook his head. No, I'm not jealous. I don't see the point in itsince Kristian is Kristian, and he'll always have a new girlfriend. I can't change that. It'sinevitable. I'm just glad, Cory smiled sweetly. He doesn't switch friends as often, or else
