Year 7 Content
The Programme of Study is divided into 17 separate units covering topics of Number, Algebra, Geometry and Measures and Statistics.
Each unit is divided into separate Teaching Objectives. Pupils in the top three sets should cover all the objectives. However, those pupils in the bottom two
sets may not cover all the objectives in full. An end of Year Examination will take place after half term in the Summer Term.
Year 8 Content
The Programme of Study is divided into 12 separate units covering topics of Number, Algebra, Geometry and Measures and Statistics.
Each unit is divided into separate Teaching Objectives. Pupils in the top three sets should cover all the objectives. However, those pupils in the bottom two
sets may not cover all the objectives in full.
An end of Year Examination will take place before half term in the Summer Term.
Year 9 Content
The programme of Study is divided into 51 separate units covering topics of Number, Algebra, Geometry and Measures and Statistics.
Each set will be working through these units at a different pace and from a different starting point, depending on the pupils’ ability level. Each unit is divided into separate Teaching Objectives, which should be covered by all pupils.
An end of Year Examination will take place before half-term in the Summer Term.

Year 10 and 11
Content Controlled
Assessments
Years 10 and 11 are grouped into 5 sets for Mathematics. Students in sets 1 to 4 will follow the GCSE Higher Tier Linear Specification A from Edexcel. The Higher Tier prepares students for AS and A Level Mathematics and covers grades D to A*. It therefore covers topics to a greater depth and will include more advanced algebraic techniques. Students in set 1 will also be given the opportunity in Year 11 to study for the Additional Mathematics qualification. Students in sets 3 and 4 will complete the vast majority of topics prior to the examination in June; however there may be some topics that may be left out, but this is left up to the judgement of the class teacher. Plenty of practice of past papers during the Spring and Summer Terms will be essential to consolidate pupils’ understanding. Students in set 5 will follow the GCSE Foundation Tier Specification A from Edexcel. The Foundation Tier covers grades G to C and will focus on key skills in number, algebra, geometry, measures, statistics and probability. All the topics required at both Higher Tier and Foundation Tier have been organised into separate modules. The order of modules is a strongly suggested teaching order; however, some flexibility is possible. Each set will be working through these modules at a different pace and from a different starting point, depending on the pupils’ ability level. Once students have completed all topics in the specification, the remaining time will be spent on extensive revision by working through past examination papers.

Pattern
Students identify natural and manmade patterns. Drawing from direct observation students focus on creating different qualities of line such as cross contour lines. Experimenting with line students learn about texture and pattern. Enlarging and simplifying shapes and patterns students create a Collage. Students explore and create repeat patterns using basic geometric shapes (block, half-drop rotation and reflection) creating and using a template. Students select their favourite pattern and use oil pastels and watercolour to create a wax resist. Analysis and comparison of artists work (Escher & Morris). Students research pattern across different cultures, examining different types of patterns (interlocking, symmetrical). Student’s experiment creating their own optical illusions based on artists Escher and Riley.

Built environment
Students consider interior and exterior spaces. They produce architectural drawings, working from direct observation in the local environment. Students learn about one, two and three point perspective. They analyse Escher’s drawings and his use of perspective. Students examine the contemporary work of Amy Casey and produce a creative and imaginative drawing based on the artist Amy Casey. Students study structures around the world. Working with different materials students create a tower.
