Congratulations to all the students and their teachers who were involved in this lovely culmination to a successful year. Thank you to Mrs Daniels and her willing helpers for providing the morning tea. The Gordon West Gazette for 2016 was sent home this week. Again this year’s edition is in full colour and is a wonderful overview of the activities for the year. Miss Alam and Mrs Roberton are to be congratulated on this great publication. The Gazette is an excellent keepsake for your child to look over in years to come and remember their time at Gordon West. A big thank you to all the families for providing such a scrumptious Teachers Lunch on Wednesday of this week. As I have stated on many occasions one of the school’s main strengths is the wonderful support given the teachers and students by the parents of the school community for which we continue to be most appreciative. The Year 5 and Year 6 children are currently enjoying a week long camp at Milson Island on the Hawkesbury River. I really enjoyed my visit to camp on Wednesday to observe Gordon West children participating in the many activities that the Sport & Recreation Department Camp has to offer. Thank you to Mrs Roberton, Mrs Dudley, Mr Sparke and Mrs Waugh for giving up a week of their family time to ensure the children of Gordon West have these wonderful experiences. The inaugural Gordon West Students vs Staff Dodgeball challenge was very eventful with the referee Salvatore Castelnuovo (Sam) having his hands full controlling the enthusiasm of all participants. Although the game officially ended in a draw the Year 6 students were certainly surprised at the tenacity and resilience of the staff team. Thank you to the staff of Gordon West for their incredible professionalism during 2016 and to all parents who have supported the school in so many ways over the course of the year.

Congratulations to the children of Gordon West on their achievements over the past 12 months. Semester 2 student reports were sent home last week and provided a detailed overview of your child’s performance during this semester of which we were very proud. I would like to acknowledge Mr O’Keefe President of the Gordon West P&C and his team together with Mrs Guenther President of the Gordon West FRASC and her team for their wonderful efforts in making Gordon West a great place to be. Parents are reminded that Monday and Tuesday of next week are School Development Days with the no students in attendance. The Gordon West OSHC will be in operation on these days. Have a wonderful Christmas vacation. J Huckerby Principal
