1) AND : Used to search the pages containing all of the key words. In case no operand is used

the default “AND” operand is used by google

Example: IIM Udaipur

2) OR: Searches for either of the keywords.

Example: IIM OR Udaipur: This will search pages that carries either IIM or Udaipur,

but also carry Rajasthan

3) + : This Operand can be used in place of AND operand

4) -: This operand will exclude a key word from the search results

Example: IIM –indore : This will show the results with pages that contains the term IIM but

does not contain the term “Indore”

5) ~: This operand will search for the synonyms/ antonym or similar kind words on the internet,

very useful when you don’t know exact term to use

Example: ~loss

6) “” (Quotes): Used to search complete phrases:

Example: “My experiments with truth”

7) * (Wild card): Can be used in place of any word (Complete word) thus “white *” will show

results with keyword white followed by any other word.

Example: “Brave * boy”

8) Inurl: Searches for words in the URL

Example: inurl:iimu.ac.in

9) Intitle: Will search for the key words in the page title

Example: intitle:”information technology”

10) Intext: searches the key words in the text

Example: intext:iimu
