Searching for articles in Google/Google Scholar Found an article on Google that isn’t full-text? Follow the steps below to help locate it: Make a note of the journal title or where the article is from. For example, in Figure 1 you would make a note of Journal of Finance. Searching for articles in Google/Google Scholar

Found an article on Google that isn’t full-text? Follow the steps below to help locate it:

Make a note of the journal title or where the article is from. For example, in Figure 1 you would make a note of Journal of Finance.

Find out if we have access by searching the Library Catalogue or the E-Journals A-Z list, using the journal title.

Select Full Text Online.

If we do subscribe, you will see where we have access from and the years available.

In Figure 4 we can see that the Journal of Finance is available in Wiley-Blackwell Journals from 1998

onwards. The article you want is from 2012. To view the journal, select the Journal button.

If the article you find on Google is from a database and not a journal, e.g. NBER Working Papers or SSRN (Figure 5), please check the Library Catalogue or the Database A to Z list on the Cass Library website to see if we have access to the relevant database.

What to do if the material is not available in our Library?

Apply for an inter-library loan by selecting Request a copy or via the library website: http://www.city.ac.uk/library/services/interlibrary-loans

Alternatively, ask at your library service desk about SCONUL Access. You may be able to get a print copy of the journal by visiting another library that is part of the SCONUL Access scheme.

If you are using Google Scholar on site (in the University)

If we subscribe to the journal the article is from, there will be a ‘is it @ CityLibrary’ link.

Select the ‘is it @ CityLibrary’ link to view our holdings.

If you are using Google Scholar off site…

Go to Google Scholar and select Settings.

Select Library links.

Save your preferences.

This will then show the ‘is it @ CityLibrary’ link if we have a subscription.

Follow the steps listed above about what to do if material is not available in our library.
