DESCRIPTION

Originally, the search engine Google was created by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, two Ph.D. students at Stanford University in the U.S. to host websites in order of importance when they were 24 and 23 years old, in an event organized by the University. The two had a common goal: to get relevant information from a number of data. The first name of the database, BackRub site, was started in 1996 as a result of mutual collaboration to form this great search engine. BackRub name was used to look at every page of inbound links (backlinks). A year later, the technology used to analyze BackRub leagues (links) began to be known around campus, because that got a reputation that would be the basis on which they would build Google. And on 15 September 1997 it was named Google.

They decided to change the first name to another. They wanted a great name and got help from a friend, who suggested googol, the mathematical term that refers to a number: the number one followed by one hundred zeros. The story of this subject is curious. It was devised by Milton Sirotta, nephew of mathematician Edward Kasner. His uncle asked him to invent a name for a very large number and the child said Googol. The number is just that:10 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000. The creators of the website asked if the name was available, but they made a mistake with the word and wrote Google instead of Googol. Seeing that the name was free, they decided to keep it.

Awards received:-Google won Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities in 2008. The Prince of Asturias Felipe de Borbon awarded Google vice president and cofounder Larry Page Nikesh Aora on 24 October 2008 at the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo, Spain.

CONCLUSION

Google is a very practical and advanced invention. It's a big communication channel because many people use it, and a big advance for the humanity.

PERSONAL OPINION

I think, Google is very practical. I can look for pictures, information and listen to music or watch videos on You Tube. I love Google because it gives me a lot of information.
