AWANA CLUBS Awana Parent Orientation & Dinner

Monday, 8.26 at 5:00 pm, in the Family Life Center The Awana Leaders will host an orientation & dinner

for Awana Clubbers and their parents.

ESL - (English as a Second Language) | 8.29 Classes resume Thursday, August 29th at 7pm in room #219-FLC. This is a great community outreach to those for whom English is

not their first language. If you know of someone who could benefit from learning conversational English, please encourage them to

attend. If you would like to help with this ministry, please contact Mary Dolvin or call the church office.

HOPE ROOM CLOTHES CLOSET NEWS

The Hope Room is open on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 1 - 3 pm. If you are interested in volunteering in this ministry, please contact the church office. If you would like to donate clothing,

donations are accepted on Tuesdays & Thursdays, between 1 & 3 pm. The need at this time is for children’s clothing. Beginning in September, donations of fall/winter clothing,

including coats & jackets, will be accepted.

COLUMBARIUM DEDICATION | 9.1 All church members are invited to attend the dedication service for

the new columbarium, located in Osborn Cemetery, on Sunday, September 1

st, at 12 noon

(following the morning worship service). Light refreshments will be served and members of the Cemetery

Ministry Team will be available to answer questions related to the columbarium and cemetery.

LABOR DAY | 9.2

There will be no evening service on Sunday, Sept. 1st, and the church offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2nd, in observance

of Labor Day. We will re-open on Tuesday, Sept 3rd at 8am.

OSBORN CEMETERY NEWS | 9.4 For McConnell Church Members - Beginning September 4th a

member of our cemetery team, Dianne Nelson, will be at the Church Office on Wednesdays from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. to answer

questions and take reservations for the new columbarium. She will be available at other times by appointment.

COLLEGE MINISTRY EVENT - DESSERT MIXER | 9.5 All of our McConnell families are invited to join us at MAYOR’S

PARK in Young Harris on Thursday September 5th, from 7-8:30 pm, to get to know and love on our local college students. If you are able to provide a dessert, please contact Nancy at 706-835-8963.

CHURCH BY THE LAKE | 9.8

Everyone is welcome to join us for Church by the Lake on Sunday, September 8th at 6:00 p.m. at the

Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds - Lower Pavilion. Bring your favorite finger food to share and your lawn chair and enjoy some good fellowship by the lake. There will be no evening services at the

church on this day.

SUMMIT STUDENTS OPEN HOUSE | 9.18 Parents & Students, be sure to join us in The Lodge for Open House on Wednesday, September 18th, at 5:45 pm. This is a great oppor-tunity to see what Summit Students is all about and to meet your

child’s youth leaders!

The Lord’s Supper will be observed today in the morning Worship Service.

After the service, the ushers will be at the doors to receive an offering for our benevolence fund.

100% of this offering is used to meet critical needs in our local community and is administered through our church.

While Cooperative Program dollars are the backbone of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board – the state missions offering

serves as a special love offering. That offering extends the work begun by the Cooperative Program and gives those ministries the extra funds to further their work statewide. God has giv-en us an enormous opportunity to spiritually impact the 7 million

in our state who have no saving faith in Jesus Christ. This year’s theme is Ageless: Touch All Generations with God’s Good News.

Our Church goal this year is $7,000. Starting in September you’ll find the Mission Georgia envelopes located in the pews and at the

Welcome Desk. Thank you for helping us reach our goal!
