What is GOOD MANNERS PROGRAM?The Good Manners Program of the
Southville Global Education Network(SGEN) is a program that will serve as avehicle for the students of the SGENschools to achieve Academic and ValuesExcellence. It is a program designed tofacilitate a student’s growth in the valuesof Respect, Responsibility, Relationship,Integrity, and Humility—values that arecrucial in an individual’s personaldevelopment. Ultimately, it is SGEN’s wayof giving to the world the gift of well-formed and values driven individuals whowil l make a difference and who wil lbecome movers of society.
WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIVES OF THE GOODMANNERS PROGRAM?
The SGEN Good Manners Programaims to:1. Develop students who respectthemselves, others, and properties;2. Develop students who build positiverelationships;3. P.A.S.S. Orientation for Parents setThe Portfolio Assessment for Stonyhurst International School Students (P.A.S.S.) is a distinguishing feature of
the SGEN schools that aims to hone the students’ critical thinking skills as well as to develop their innate desire toseek and explore answers to questions or ideas they have about themselves, their community, or their environment.
While the P.A.S.S. has been equated with the research paper and oral defense required of Grade School andHigh School graduating students, the portfolio assessment includes other requirements such as collated students’works in their subjects, mastery of the school’s hallmarks, and other features that ensure the readiness of the studentsfor the work demands of the next level and development of their achievement drive, sense of responsibility, productivity, industry, and excellence.
For a thorough understanding of the P.A.S.S. Research Program, parents of Grades 5 & 6 and Grades 9 & 10are invited to the P.A.S.S. Orientation for Parents on July 6, 2013, 9:00 A.M. at SSIS Multi-Purpose Hall. Ms. PerpetuaAgnes Cortes, the P.A.S.S. Specialist for High School, will discuss the rudiments of research as well as the strategies onhow parents and teachers can collaborate to make P.A.S.S. a truly fruitful and relevant experience for the children.

Stars and Stripes Mufti on July 3In observance of the Philippine-American Friendship
Day that coincides with the Independence Day in the UnitedStates on the fourth of July, the mufti motif of this month isStars and Stripes. All students are encouraged to participate
in this worthwhile activity by the Student Council. A fee of ten pesos (P10)will be collected from students who follow the theme given; while thosewho will not follow the theme by wearing civilian clothing or school uniformwill pay a fee of fifteen pesos (P15).
Proceeds of the Mufti fund will go to the fund of the Student Council.Once again, everyone is reminded that although casual wear is
allowed, decent dress code for students is expected. This means neitherslippers nor sandals; no sleeveless, spaghetti-strapped blouses, tight tank tops,low-back, plunging necklines, thin/see-through clothing, mini-skirts, shorts ormuscle shirts. Let’s support this worthy project; at the same time, maintaindecency and academic atmosphere in SSIS!
