I am a character invented by the children of the Primary Schools of Lonate Pozzolo.They created a pigotta boy (you know, the rag dolls made by UNICEF) and decided to call me Pierino Pozzolo.Why did they choose this name?In Italy we have a lot of jokes on a boy whose name is Pierino; he’s a little bit naughty, but he’s also real fun!! So the children thought that this could be a good name for a kid like me, who sometimes doesn’t behave very well, but that in the end is a good boy and loves being with other children.My surname, Pozzolo, is the second part of my hometown name, Lonate Pozzolo.

As I said before, sometimes I’m a little bit naughty. So you will think: why is he the character of good behaviour??The children of Lonate Primary Schools thought that, since for me is not always easy to respect the rules, I could understand other children when they have difficulties in behaving properly and sofind the right words and the right examples to teach them good behaviour.I can assure you that I’ll do my best!!!

In Italy I played a lot with the children and I went to a lot of places…Together we talked about good behaviour and in particular we discussed the importance of respecting rules during games.The children and I thought that the following rules are important if we want to play together respecting each other and having fun:1. Include everyone in games;2. Respect your turn;3. Don’t cheat;4. Don’t quarrel;5. Respect what the referee decides;6. Accept the final result.What better way to learn the rules than playing together?We chose LIONS AND GAZELLES. If you don’t know this game, here are the rules..

•The game is between two teams: LIONS and GAZELLES•Lions place themselves in a line along the short side of the gym.•Gazelles are inside the playground.•At the starting-signal the first Lion runs into the playground and tries to touch a Gazelle on the back; the Gazelle, if touched, goes out of thefield.

•The second Lion can start only when the first Lion goes back to thestarting line and touches his classmate’s hand.

•If a Lion doesn’t succeed in catching a Gazelle, he can go back to thestarting line and ask for the help of a fellow-lion and they will chase theGazelle together. (In this case only one Gazelle can be caught.)

•The game ends when all the Gazelles have been caught, or, in any case, after five minutes from the beginning of the game.

•At the end of the “manche” the Lions become Gazelles and vice versa.•THE WINNER IS THE TEAM THAT HAS CAUGHT ALL THE GAZELLES IN LESS TIME.
