Who can benefit from our golf program?

The Golf Rehabilitation and Fitness Program at Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates helps

golfers maximize their performance, minimize injury, and return safely to play after injuries or

spine surgeries. Golfers of all ages and skill levels can benefit from the Golf Rehabilitation and

Fitness Program. We help junior golfers who are just getting started, patients recovering from

back surgery, weekend warriors trying to improve their physical conditioning, and retirees who

want to play regularly. Our program can be an effective cross training program for other sports as

well.

At your initial consultation, you will be evaluated on up to 16 golf specific physical assessments.

This includes flexibility, balance, pelvic mobility, hip and thoracic rotation. A Titleist

Performance Institute (TPI) based customized exercise program will be created to address your

physical impairments. Your therapist will provide instruction and review your exercise program

with you. An online based PROsite account will be created that describes your impairments and

shows you professional exercise videos based on your physical assessment. Once created, you

will be able to review your online exercise routine anywhere you have online access. You will

also be able to send messages to your instructor if needed. We always welcome videos of your

golf swing and your golf pro’s input to help improve your game.

Fitness and Conditioning:

The golf swing requires your spine to flex,

side-bend, rotate, and extend. When done

repetitively, these motions can place a

tremendous amount of force (typically eight

times a person’s body weight) through your

joints and spine. The combination of high

repetition and high force increases the

likelihood of injury, especially if incorrect

golf swing patterns and muscle imbalances

exist. The Golf Rehabilitation and Fitness

Program at Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine

Associates can help you avoid injuries and

get the most out of your game by offering

proper golf conditioning and training.

Titleist Performance Institute Certified

Our staff of instructors, which includes physical therapists and a board

certified sports medicine physician, is certified by the Titleist Performance

Institute (TPI). TPI is the world's leading educational organization

dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to

the golf swing. TPI has analyzed how physical limitations in a player’s

body can adversely affect the golf swing and potentially lead to injury.
