Goldsmiths University Students’ Union (commonly referred to as Goldsmiths SU) represents over 9000 students based in the diverse and ever-expanding south east of London.

Whether it is through our website goldsmithssu.org, through student focused campaigns or through student led publications including [smiths] magazine and The Leopard newspaper, we are always in close contact with our students. It is this unique relationship we

have developed with our students that will help us engage them with your brand.

Goldsmiths has over 9000 students but the campus is frequented by many more then that because of our close relation with the Trinity Laban College and Greenwich University.

The Union Guide is a publication which will be sent directly to the homes of all prospective Goldsmiths students at the time that they are receiving their exam results. This Guide will be Goldsmiths SU’s first contact with incoming students and has the potential to provide you with a key opportunity to start building bridges with this group.

The Union Guide contains information that students will need throughout their time at Goldsmiths, such as who their

representatives are and how best to make use of the many services that we provide. Further to this reprints and left over guides are used during open days to introduce incoming students to the SU and the services we provide.

As such we expect this guide to be kept by those who receive it, and referred to throughout their time here. For any advertisers in the publication this means that the Union Guide provides them with a chance to be seen multiple times throughout the year.

The Freshers Welcome Pack is a bag full of exciting freebies which every fresher finds waiting for them in their halls room when they move in or can pick up from the Freshers Fayre. This bag contains freebies, snacks and information about Goldsmiths Students’ Union and our upcoming events. Students will no doubt go through the information within the bag after their parents depart giving sponsors and advertisers a unique chance to personally engage with students from the very start of their time at University.

The Freshers Welcome Guide provides Goldsmiths students who have just arrived with a breakdown of everything happen-ing throughout Freshers’ Week. The guide will contain details on all of the events and offers Gold-smiths SU has on and will be found inside Freshers Welcome Pack. This will be essential reading for all Freshers who want to make the most out of their first week of university!

To truly engage and be seen by all students why not get your promo materials inside our Freshers pack or even better get your brand printed onto the bags which con-tains the packs. get items and pro-mo materialls in the bag or your brand on the recycled brown pa-per bag alongside the Union logo and the Freshers Week Brand. Freshers’ Fayre is attended by nearly all first years and gets a large attendance from second, third and postgraduate students as well. It is one of the most visible and highly anticipated events of the year providing 20+ Sports Clubs and 50+ Societies with the chance to recruit new members from students new and old. The Fayre has become so popular in recent

years that several Goldsmiths departments now attend in order to increase their profile amongst the student population.

This year is gearing up to be the biggest Freshers Fayre yet with preparations already underway to get the event organised. Being part of the Fayre gives you a chance to be on site during one of the

busiest days of the year mingling with Goldsmiths population of 9000+ students. This year we will be doing Freshers Fayre across two days, Wednesday the 25th of September and Thursday the 26th of September. So book now to guarantee your space at one of the most lively and impactful Goldsmiths events of the year.

The Freshers’ Crew are a team of volunteers coordinated by the Union throughout the Freshers period to help newly arrived students as they adjust to their lives in South East London. The Freshers’ Crew act as one of the first points of contact the Students’ Union has with first years, as they will be on hand during the move in weekend assisting in getting the freshers’ luggage to their rooms whilst welcoming them to the university. The Freshers’ Crew will also be team leaders in many of the initial social nights the Students’ Union is organising, helping new students to settle in and socialise through ice breaking tasks and events. Sponsoring the T-shirts means being part of one of the most visible groups during freshers and being emblazoned upon the apparel of our 50+ Volunteer team as they greet students and parents during their initial weekend at university.

Goldsmiths SU has a strong student staff contingent ranging from the staff who work in our shop to those who man the bar and the reception desks. These members of student staff are well known and highly visible not just throughout Freshers week but throughout the entire year. Sponsoring the uniform of our 60+ student staff will give you huge exposure within Goldsmiths student circles as these uniforms will be visible from when the building is opened in the morning right up until it closes, often long into the early hours of the next day!

Goldsmiths SU’s website is a virtual hub for information about the Union. The website sees a constant flow of traffic from students and staff alike within the Goldsmiths com-munity and provides updates on events and news within the union, information on clubs and societies and our other services including The Stretch, our student bar, and welfare and academic support site. The Leopard is the student newspaper, which is contributed to, put together and distributed by students. This publication is a favourite with many students inside and out of Goldsmiths and has a lot of readers in our sister institution of Trinity Laban. Throughout the year 5 issues are released and 1000 copies are produced of each issue and distributed all over campus. On top of this all issues are also published online and linked to through the Leopard website and social media.

[smiths] is Goldsmiths Students’ Union’s longest running publication. Much like the Leopard, the magazine is run by and for students and has proven popular throughout the campus. A large team of volunteers work on the publication, 1000 copies being printed for each of the 4 issues released each year. As a testament to the skill and hard work of the editorial teams behind the publication it is rare for any edition to stay in stock for more than 2 weeks and as such the issues are always released on the [smiths] website soon after its physical release.

Goldsmiths Students’ Union has lockable poster cabinets throughout the campus at key locations. These cabinets are in all commonly used hallways and meeting areas within the Students’ Union and other key areas of the university - any posters placed in them will be seen by the thousands of students, academics and staff who utilise the University every day.
