Mayor’s Message:

We have made it to October!

We are surviving the challenges of the pandemic and are already looking

ahead to a new year, 2021.

2020 was coined as the year of “Perfect Vision”. However, nothing seems

“perfect” about 2020. So much happened that many would rather forget. But,

we the faithful, persistent, resilient, and optimistic remain poised and prepared

for what the near and distant future will bring into our lives, community and

world.

The City of Maple Heights has kept its head up during this very stressful time; we did our best to

maintain all city services, as best as we could. We delivered meals to our seniors and homebound

residents, increased the available food at our food pantry and gave away hundreds of pounds of fresh

fruits and produce once a month.

In this month’s newsletter, I have a very important update to share, “the Senior tax levy overwhelm-

ingly passed” so we will be able to continue the good work we so compassionately deliver to our

seniors and others who contact us for help, human services. We believe that we make a difference in

the lives that we touch and so we were very pleased with the election results.

I sincerely wish each of you the best always. Thank you for your support during our closure..

WalgreensWa will be offering Flu Shots at the Maple Hts. Senior Center on Wednesday Sept. 11th 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

Governor DeWine approved the opening of Senior Centers on September 21st. We are still

in the early stages of planning a reopening. We have received the Responsible Restart

Ohio safety guidelines and recommendations from the Ohio Department of Aging and the

Ohio Department of Health. We have multiple requirements to consider including:

• Bi-weekly COVID-19 testing of staff and volunteers.

• Multiple health screenings and testing for clientele.

• Wearing masks and practicing social distancing.

• Frequent sanitization of all high traffic areas and restroom facilities.

We continue to ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate through the

re-opening process. We will continue with our “grab and go” lunches, meal delivery to

homebound individuals, and transportation services. If you have any questions or just

want to speak to staff, please don’t hesitate to call. We miss all of you and hope to be to-

gether again very soon. In the meantime, stay safe and be well!

Walgreens will be coming to the Maple Heights Senior Center at 15901 Libby Rd. on Tuesday, Octo-

ber 7th, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM to administer flu, pneumonia and shingles shots. We will be set-

ting up in the parking lot (weather permitting) or in the coat room area of the Senior Center to be com-

pliant with the social distancing guidelines.

An appointment will be necessary to get your shots. Beginning at 10:00 AM, every 10 minutes. We will

be able to accommodate 1 person in each time slot, for a maximum of 18 appointments per day.

Please call 216.587.5481 to schedule your day and time. Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes

before your scheduled time. You will be asked to remain in your car, until your appointed time.

The Flu and Pneumonia shots should be covered by your insurance. The only carrier that is not

accepted by Walgreens is Care Source. Please bring your ID and your insurance card. Also, insur-

ance verification of the shingles shot will need to be completed at the time of your appointment..
