Golden Carrot Awards 2010: A Tasty Treat to Sink Your Teeth Into

Winnipeg — Nominations are now being accepted for the 2010 Golden Carrot Awards, Food

Matters Manitoba’s annual toast to food champions in our province. If someone you know isworking behind the scenes to get good food to Manitoba tables, schools and community centres,

we want to hear from you!

Kreesta Doucette, Executive Director of Food Matters Manitoba says that the Golden CarrotAwards are a way of helping to recognize the people and organizations in Manitoba that make

extraordinary contributions to good food in our province.

“We’ve had winners that started community gardens in their neighbourhoods and even peoplethat have championed getting healthier foods into schools and workplaces,” Doucette said.

“There are so many behind the scenes heroes making a big difference every day in our provinceand we just want to help give them the recognition that they deserve.” 

Golden Carrot Awards will be given to winners in of the following categories: Rural Community

Food Champion, Urban Community Food Champion, Northern Community Food Champion,Media Community Food Champion, Business Community Food Champion, and Education

Community Food Champion. The awards will be presented and all nominees recognized on

October 15, 2010 in celebration of World Food Day.

Nomination forms are available at www.foodmattersmanitoba.ca, and can be submitted until

August 15, 2010.
