Please join the Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce at our February Chamber Network Luncheon, Tuesday, February 21, 2017, 12:00 p.m. at Big Papa's Steakhouse & Saloon, 1001 W Tehachapi Blvd, C200. Our guest speaker will be Greg Garrett, Tehachapi City Manager. Greg will be presenting the 2016 Year-End Report.
Greg Garrett is the City Manager for the City of Tehachapi and has served in that capacity since 2009 during which time he has overseen the completion of the City’s General Plan, directed over $20 million in infrastructure investments, and created an efficient organizational model that has maintained balanced budgets throughout the recent recession.
Prior to serving as the City Manager, Mr. Garrett was the Assistant City Manager from 2004 to 2009. Greg was instrumental in the successful revitalization of downtown, the development of several new parks, and major upgrades to the City’s Water and Waste Water structure.
Most of the management philosophies he has put in place at the City come from his extensive private sector background.
Prior to entering the public sector, Greg led successful teams as the Global Projects Manager at General Electric and the Vice President at Scaled CompositesThe cost is $15 for Chamber Members, $20 for Non-Chamber members, which includes lunch. Reservations are required. Please make your reservation by calling the Chamber at 661-822-4180. Reservation deadline is Friday, February 17, 2017.

As with just about every business today, our staff is being asked to do more with less and working harder than ever. we could not do what we do without the support of advertisers, those who contribute articles and photos and our readers.
When you choose to invest your advertising with out newspaper, you're helping fund news coverage as well as all the other information we provide the community.
Yes, we have a lot of competition - Facebook, restaurant menus and table tops, billboards, etc. - but we believe the Tehachapi News remains your best value for reaching more local residents more often than any other media at very affordable rates.
Every time an advertisers says "yes" to advertising in the Tehachapi News, they're helping us provide the newspaper that has connected Tehachapi and helped keep people informed since 1899!
For more information call us at 822-6828 or email [email protected]
Thank you for your support!

Kaiser Permanente provides healthcare services to more than 105,000 members in Kern County at 13 locations with nearly 1,000 employees and physicians. Since entering the market in 1988 with one medical office building and 4,000 members, Kaiser Permanente has grown to be an anchor institution in Kern County.
Kaiser Permanente’s mission is to provide high-quality, affordable health care services to improve the health of our members and the communities we serve. This mission is accomplished through market-leading performance in quality, service and affordability.
There are three very important factors that make Kaiser Permanente special – care and coverage together, convenience and choice, and care you can trust. Kaiser Permanente brings together health care and coverage with connected teams of doctors, nurses and pharmacists. With Kaiser Permanente, patients have the support of an entire care team who work together and are closely connected through electronic health records, insuring the right care at the right time. From preventative screenings to specialty care and treatment for serious conditions, Kaiser Permanente members receive the top-rated care they need to help them be their healthiest.
Kaiser Permanente is also known for its technology and innovation. One such example is the use of our mobile health vehicle to bring care closer to home for our Tehachapi area members. We began providing services in the mobile health vehicle in March of 2012. The mobile health vehicle was so well received by our Tehachapi area members that we opened our first medical office building outside of the greater Bakersfield area, right here in Tehachapi in February of 2016. Very soon after opening, our membership grew and we are now in the process of expanding our medical offices!
Additionally, Kaiser Permanente is the proud Presenting Sponsor of the Tehachapi GranFondo. In just three short years, the Tehachapi GranFondo has been named Best Century by Cycle Magazine. We are proud to be a catalyst for economic growth in Tehachapi. Kaiser Permanente also invests directly in improvements to community health by working to increase access for the underserved, funding safety-net agencies, disseminating care improvements, conducting research, educating health care workers and consumers, and in-forming public policy. Through our Community Benefit Grant making process, we have funded three grants in the Tehachapi area to the Cummings Valley PTO - $10,000 the Golden Hills PTO - $5,000 and the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District $25,000.
We are proud members of this community and look forward to continuing to provide high-quality, affordable health care services to improve the health of our members and the communities of the Greater Tehachapi Valley.
