Special Note: Dur ing our Senior Open Forum
on December 3rd, in light of the San Bernardino
incident, we addressed the Safety Protocols and
Lockdown procedures currently in place at the
Center. We want everyone to feel safe and know
that “JGF” Staff are always thinking of the safe-
ty of all. We will continue to be vigilant
toward our surroundings and although we cannot
eliminate all risks on the basis of a public
facility, we must work together with all of you,
our patrons & visitors to ensure the best possible
safety outcomes.
Happy New Year - 2016 is officially here! I
hope all of you enjoyed a glorious holiday
season while celebrating with your family and
friends! We are going to have a wonderful year,
the staff and I are looking forward to another
great calendar year with all of you.
I hope you had the opportunity to participate in
all of the many entertaining holiday events
including Goeske’s Senior Choir & Drama Club
in their “Christmas Concert” and potluck and
we can’t forget Goeske’s String Ensemble
Christmas performance. What an entertaining
time had by all. December brought us many
memorable moments.
Our annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon
was a huge success! During this luncheon we
like to show our volunteers how much we
appreciate them and how valuable they truly are
to us, the Janet Goeske Foundation and Center.
Not only did we honor and celebrate the many
volunteers of the Center but we had a delicious
meal served by our Foundation’s Board of
Directors. During this event we announced that
more than 31,871 volunteer hours were recorded
for the 2015 calendar year. Can you believe that
this number is the equivalent to 15 full-time
staff members? Countless thanks to all the
wonderful helping hands that share their time
and talent with us to make the Center a great
place to be! And many thanks to our Board of
Directors and the Goeske staff for a beautiful
Volunteer Appreciation luncheon.
If you would like to volunteer some time with
us and join the roster of special people
committed to the Center and our mission, please
stop by and discuss your options and availability
with Estella. We will be happy to hear from
you!
Our annual Giving Tree was just as striking as
ever and would not have been possible without
our many supporters. I would like to personally
say “thank you” to all of you that were able to
participate and a special “thank you” goes out to
Goldware Senior Housing for providing our tree
topper support! We are so grateful to each and
every one of you.
What a busy holiday season we had! The fun
will not stop just because the holidays are over,
2016 will also be full of fun and excitement. We
are looking forward to providing you with many
exciting programs and events throughout the
year. Join us and bring a friend too!
On behalf of the entire staff, our wishes to you
for a joyous, healthy, and prosperous New Year!
Warm regards,
Judith
P.S. With the commencement of the New Year,
you will see a new face at the Center … Please
stop by and welcome Kate Panepinto as our
Senior Services & Resource Manager. Kate is
bringing with her many years of experience and
a wealth of knowledge regarding programs and
resources to better serve older adults. She is also
an avid runner who has participated in many
marathons .... I'm EXHAUSTED JUST
THINKING ABOUT 1 mile!!!
We anticipate 2016 will be a very rewarding
year with growth in pilot programs and
many new resources designed just for YOU!
