One of the very real, inescapable truths about our great God is that…

“He is a God of wrath”

The wrath of God is His necessary, just, and righteous

payback against sin.

SOME OF THE VERSES IN THE BIBLE ABOUT GOD’S RAGE

Psalm 18:8“Smoke went up out of His nostrils, And fire from His mouth

devoured; Coals were kindled by it.”

Exodus 34:7 “… yet He will by no

means leave the guilty unpunished ..."

Deuteronomy 32:41 “…And My hand

takes hold on justice, I will render

vengeance on My adversaries, And I

will repay those who hate Me.”

The Greek words for wrath indicate… God’s intense displeasure at sin and His judgment against sin.

FOUR TRUTHS ABOUT GOD’S WRATH

Rightness -God’s wrath is one of God’s perfection

Romans 11:22 – “Behold then the kindness and severity of God; to those who fell, severity, but to you, God's kindness, if you continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off.”

“Severity” means “to be cut off.”

God is good!But don’t mistake His goodness

for weakness or unresponsiveness toward sin.

How could God be good if He looked the other way when faced with evil?

QUESTIONS

How can a police officer be good if he sees a crime and does nothing? How can a firefighter be good if he sees a fire and doesn’t try to put it out?

Romans 1:24 – “Therefore God gave them over in

bodies with one another.”

God is not wrathful because He wants to hurt. He’s

wrathful because He’s just.

LIFE AND DEATH…IT’S JUST A SPLIT SECOND

You can only measure how young you are against your

death date, not your birth date.

A choice must be made

God paid too high a price for us to fool around and play games with His wrath.

1 Thessalonians 1:10 said that Jesus

“rescues us from the wrath to come.”
