Cronus (Saturn) King of the Titans - Cronus symbol was the sickle. He used the sickle to mortally wound his father, Oranus. He was the father to the Olympians which he ate because there was a prophecy that his children would dethrone him

Zeus (Jupiter) God of the Sky Zeus symbol was the lightning bolt. Zeus is king of the gods. Overthrew his father Cronus and made him disgorge his siblings.

Poseidon (Neptune) God of the Sea Poseidon's symbols are the trident and the horse because he created them. Sometimes known as the earthshaker because he controlled earthquakes at will. Poseidon was mad at Odysseus for blinding his son Polyphemus.

Athena (Minerva) Goddess of Wisdom Athenas symbols are the spear and the Aegis shield, which is where the head of Medusa is held. Athena was the daughter of Zeus alone, she sprouted from his head in full armor. She turned Medusa from a beautiful woman into the monster she is depicted in myths.

Helios (Sol) The Titan of the Sun The god of the sun but in Hellenistic times (3 rd century) was blended with Apollo. Helios would rise every morning in the east and set in the west riding his golden chariot hauling the sun.

Hermes (Mercury) Messenger of the Gods Was also the god of trade, thieves, travelers, sports, athletics. Hermes symbol was the Talaria (winged sandals) which helped the god fly around and get places quicker. Hermes helped Odysseus on his journey especially on Circes island.

Hephaestus (Vulcan) Smith of the Gods Hephaestus symbol was the hammer and anvil, which he used to forge most of the Olympians weapons. When he was born Hera threw him off of Olympus because he was shriveled of foot, but in another story attempting to rescue his mother from Zeus' advances, was flung down from the heavens by Zeus He also made Achilles armor in the battle of troy.
