The could be a principal being coached their supervisor; it could be a teacher being coached by an instructional coach. The relationship doesn’t matter. It is about identifying a small bite-sized chunk that the educator feels would take their practice to the next level. The chunk needs to be small enough that it can be accomplished an a small amount of time, say one to two weeks. This need not be a stand-alone goal. Think about breaking year-long goals into sizable chunks, so that the coach and coachee are working throughout the year on progressing toward the larger end goal. The bite-sized chunk can be a little thing that the coach oers as feedback to the educator. As mentioned before, it can be a step toward a larger, more long-term goal. Or it can be a little thing identified through the “Little Things” podcast and/or blog. This page should be followed by the “Goal Sheet Follow-Up.” The process should be cyclical. How to use this sheet: this is meant to facilitate a conversation between a coach and the person being coached.

The bite-sized chunk can be a little thing that the coach offers as feedback to the educator. As mentioned before, it can be a step toward a larger, more long-term goal. Or it can be a little thing identified through the “Little Things” podcast and/or blog.
