AgondaThe long and isolated s tretch of Agonda Bea ch is perfect for those looking to ge t aw ay from it all. It's quiet and relativelyuncrowde d. Anyone looking to relax should come here. Stay in a simple hut right on the bea ch, and enjoy the stillness andnature. Agonda Beach is fast being discovered, however. Do expect to find some other tourists, souvenir stalls, and restaurants.

AnjunaAnjuna Beach was once home to the hippies. Most of them have now moved on but their legacy remains. Baga & CalanguteCalangu te Beach is the busies t and most commercial beach in Goa. It's filled with foreigners tanning themselves on the endles srows of side-by-side sun lounges, and Indians who come to watch. Baga Beach starts right where Calangute ends, although it'shard to pinpoint exactly where. The bea ch is a bit less crowded a nd better developed than Ca langute. A wide range of watersports are on offer. If you feel like indulging yourself with some fine food and wine, there are many upmarket restaura nts in thearea too. Baga is a lso we ll known for its nightlife, including the infamous Tito's and C afe Mambo.

BenaulimBenaulim Beach is only a short distance sou th of Colva Beach, but there's a huge contras t betw een the two. Known for itsfishing industry, it's a be autiful and laid back stretch of beach. You wo n't find any wild parties the re, but wate r sports a nddolphin sightsee ing trips a re on offer. It does get a little crowded a round pea k time in December, but hea d a bit further southdown the b each and the quietness w ill be restored.

CandolimThe long straight stretch of Cando lim Beach is lined w ith shacks and ba rs, which back onto scrub covered sand d unes. It's alively beach that ha s managed to retain its cleanliness, and even p eacefulness in some areas , making it a good alternative tothe maddeningly crowded Calangute and Baga. You'll find plenty of tasty restaurants and happening nightspots in the area.Cand olim Beach is right next to Aguada Fort, which is also wo rth a visit.

Mandrem, Morjim, & AshwemThese wide o pen bea ches have become quite hip and trendy in recent years. Groovy beach bars a nd beach huts, as well as afew fashionable resorts can be found there. The area also ha s a number of yoga retreats. The beaches are renow ned for theirprotected turtle population. Quite a bit of land in the area around Morjim and Ashwem has been bought by Russians, who aresettling there e n mass. It's poss ible to wa lk to Mandrem from Arambol.

Since it was d iscovered, it'sbecome backpacker heaven, and is getting busier and more crowded with each passing season. Fortunately, so far thereremains an abs ence of any permanent structures o n the bea ch. Instead you can sta y in one of the the simple, temporary, cocohuts that a re erected the re ea ch year. Anyone looking for additional comforts will find them at the hote ls and res orts a sho rtdistance from the beach. For bars and nightlife, head to the hectic southern end of the be ach.

PatnemPatne m Beach is no long er a w ell kept secret, but it's still much quieter than ne arby Pa lolem Beach, which is only a 10 minutesaw ay. This small beach, nestled be twe en two cliffs, is a w onderful place to stay if you want to chill out but not be too far aw ayfrom some de cent nightlife in Pa lolem.
