Helping with the big and little things. Some changes to our pricing Go on, take us for granted AMI and Neighbourly have come together to boost projects that are helping make our neighbourhoods safer places to live – giving away $15,000 to worthy causes already this year. If you’ve got a worthy safety project of your own – anything from lighting a dangerous alley, to starting up a school walking bus – let us know. You could get a grant of up to $6,000 to make it happen. Let’s make Kiwi communities safer together. Head to ami.co.nz/communitygrants to find out more. We want to be a strong safety net for you when things go wrong, so we’ve been working on a different way to calculate your premiums. In the past, the difference in risk across the country hasn’t always been reflected in the price you pay for your insurance. But we’ve learned a lot about the environmental risks in New Zealand and how they’re growing, and we need to change our prices accordingly so we can be there for you in the future. This means from now on, if you live in an area at high risk of natural disasters, you could pay more for your house or rental property insurance than a like-for-like home in a lower risk area. The last few years have been difficult for a lot of Kiwis, with an unprecedented number of house and contents claims due to natural disasters. Some changes to our pricing

Go on, take us for grantedAMI and Neighbourly have come together to boost projects that are helping make our neighbourhoods safer places to live – giving away $15,000 to worthy causes already this year.

If you’ve got a worthy safety project of your own – anything from lighting a dangerous alley, to starting up a school walking bus – let us know. You could get a grant of up to $6,000 to make it happen. Let’s make Kiwi communities safer together. Head to ami.co.nz/communitygrants to fi nd out more.

We want to be a strong safety net for you when things go wrong, so we’ve been working on a diff erent way to calculate your premiums.

In the past, the diff erence in risk across the country hasn’t always been refl ected in the price you pay for your insurance.

But we’ve learned a lot about the environmental risks in

New Zealand and how they’re growing, and we need to change our prices accordingly so we can be there for you in the future. This means from now on, if you live in an area at high risk of natural disasters, you could pay more for your house or rental property insurance than a like-for-like home in a lower risk area.

The last few years have been diffi cult for a lot of Kiwis, with an

The whole point of insurance is to help you breathe easier – so why make paying for it stressful? It’s quick and easy to make a payment online at ami.co.nz/pay or, simpler still, set up a direct debit, then forget all about it.2

Pay the easy way

2 When you pay in instalments, the total cost per year will be more than if you paid the annual premium in one lump sum.

No-one knows our most dangerous roads like a police officer does.

After attending over 100 fatal crashes, Canterbury’s Sergeant Dan Harker joined forces with AMI and NZTA to create and trial a series of signs warning drivers of impending intersections. With crash statistics dropping from 11 serious accidents in three years prior to installation, to zero in the two years since installation, this is great news!

Clocking results like that, we decided to help Dan in the continued trial, creating safer communities together as we go. Good on you Sergeant Dan!

You’re the man, Sergeant Dan

Three cheers for a safer SpringHey, can we get a cheer? Spring is finally here! And with it comes the traditional Spring clean. Here are our top tips on extending it to your garden, so you can keep your house as safe as it is tidy:

• Give any tree branches reaching upper storeys a good trim, so they can’t be used as a leg-up for a break in

• Cut your hedges back too, to remove any good hiding spots

• Finish off your spruce-up by planting thorny shrubs around your windows – there’s nothing more off-putting than a sharp pain in the rear end!

SAVING TIP: Increase your excessOpting to pay a higher excess can lower your premium. Ask us about excess options (some conditions apply).4
