2021 FOCUS STATEMENT:“RING THE BELL”• WHERE DID THIS COME FROM? 2021 SENIOR LEAD TEAM EXPLAIN

PHILOSOPHY: WHY DO WE EXIST AS A PROGRAM?• WE FULLY BELIEVE THIS PROGRAM CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE

FOREVER. THE BELOW NOTES EXPLAIN WHAY WE EXIST AS A PROGRAM.

• 1) We feel the #1 skill you can learn as a Go-Hawk Football player is how to be an ELITE TEAMMATE. You will be on a “team” of some kind the rest of your lives.

• We feel that Gratitude + Grit=Growth

WHAT DOES A GREAT TEAMMATE LOOK LIKE?

• We feel a great teammate is someone that has the maturity to put another person/or team ahead of themselves.

• We feel a great teammate is someone that is reliable.

• We feel a great teammate is someone that holds people accountable to individual and team goals. If done properly, this is not being a bully.

• Most problems in teams come as a result of being LAZY or SELFISH or BOTH.

GRATITUDE + GRIT = GROWTH

• 1) GRATITUDE IS THE MOST HEALTHY OF ALL THE EMOTIONS.

• 2) GRIT DEFINED: PERSERVERANCE AND PASSION TOWARDS A LONG TERM GOAL.—Angela Duckworth

• 3) GROWTH IN MIND AND BODY HAPPEN WHEN:

• A) YOU ARE THANKFUL

• B) YOU DEVELOP GRIT

DO WE ALL WANT THE SAME THING?

• PROGRAM GOALS

• We want every single senior who leaves our program to say his time with us was one of, if not the best experience he had while attending WSR.

• We want every single kid to have fun playing the best game ever created.

• We want our coaching staff to work together, not against each other. Same basic offense and defense from top-down, 7-12.

• We want our stands to be filled every Friday night. Home and away.

• We want our kids to graduate and CONTINUE LEARNING AT THE NEXT LEVEL WHATEVER THAT MAY BE. They are all capable.

• We want to see every single incoming freshman in the parent’s night line as a senior.

• We want to teach, teach, and re-teach the FUNDAMENTALS!!

• We want to WIN. District and State Titles.

What Can a Player Expect?

• To be in better physical shape than anyone else in the STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

• He can expect to learn to TRUST THE PROCESS.

• He can expect to learn about the COMPARISON TRAP and how NOT TO FALL IN. FACEBOOK.

• He can expect blood, sweat, tears, mud, cold, heat, chewing-out, praise, cheers, bruises, and TO WIN!

• He can expect to have the time of his life.

• He can expect to learn TEAMWORK.

• He can expect HARD WORK.

• That his coaches care about him as a person and when they make a mistake, they will apologize.

• Enthusiastic Coaches.

• He can expect to always be treated in a fair way.

• He can expect to make the best memories of his life every Friday Night!

• Unexcused absence from in-season weightlifting will result in missing 1 quarter for the missed weightlifting workout if it’s notexcused prior AND made up before or after.

• During football season, your focus should be on football and your teammates. Not yourself or your AAU season. Represent our communities and school 1st.

• Must have a note to the coach 2 days before the game if riding home with parents after a game. We win as a team and lose as a team. We go together and ride home together!! Don’t cop out on your teammates. Only in special cases will players ride home with parents.
