Dear all,

In this week's main Torah portion (Korach) we read about Israel's rebellion against God-ordained leadershipunder Korach after they had been judged from the sins of bad reports after having spied out the promised landand in stead of following God having petitioned to be given an earthly king in addition to attempting to approachthe Lord and the sanctuary in their own way in stead of going through the high priest. Much like the conditions ofthe professing church and the today.

In the Haftarah portion (prophets) there is a foreshadowing towards 'thunder and hail' judgement during thewheat harvest (specifically referred to as 'that day') a type of the Lord's coming at the rapture, his voicethundering and accompanying hailstones and stones of fire. This prophetic picture is confirmed in enemy signalingby the memes repeatedly issued by the Trump administration (type of earthly, willful king the people chose andfollow, usurping God's place like in Korach's rebellion) and various Hollywood outlets.

While the people petitioned Samuel to intercede on their behalf, he discerned they were in dire need ofrepentance and instruction, the rod of correction.

Timing

The Canaan wheat harvest is between the middle of May and the middle of June. Rain in that season seldomor never falls, but if it does it is usually severe. This is the testimony of one who spoke as a resident, and hisstatement is confirmed by the observations of the latest travellers and scholars. The terrible storm of rainaccompanied with thunder, at a time of year when these storms of thunder and rain rarely took place, coming, as itdid, in direct answer to the seer’s invocation, struck the people naturally with great fear, and for the moment theythoroughly repented of the past, and entreated Samuel—who, they felt, stood on strangely familiar terms with thatawful yet loving Eternal—to intercede for them and recognizing the people's need for repentance and instruction.

A storm during the wheat harvest | Who is your defender?

1 Samuel 12:16-18

When people have done wrong things, it is

important for them to recognise that

fact. Otherwise, they will not confess their evil

deed to God, and they will not ask him to forgive

them. Instead they will continue with the same

evil behaviour and they will offend God even

more.

Israel’s people offended God when they

demanded a king for their nation. They were

not trusting God to defend them, and they

were not accepting his rule over their

lives. That was why Samuel asked God to act

against them. They needed to see clearly that

they had acted wrongly.

In Israel, the harvest of wheat is in May and

June of each year. The weather is usually dry

during that part of the year. Rain falls only rarely

then. So, Samuel was asking God to do

something that did not normally happen.

The effect of a storm during the harvest would

be to damage the harvest. The people would

lose some of their grain. They had already

harvested another grain, called barley, so that

was safe. Perhaps they had also harvested

some of the wheat already. However, the heavy

rain would spoil the wheat that was still in the

field.

The storms in Israel are often very powerful.

The Bible often uses storms as word-pictures for

the power of God and his word. See, for

example, Psalm 29 and Job chapter 37. So, the

people recognised this storm as an act of

God. They understood that they should not

have demanded a king. They were afraid of

God, because he had acted against them. They

were afraid of Samuel, because God had

answered his prayer in such an impressive

manner.

Consider the almond trees

The rod of Aaron which Budded, and represents Jesus the VINE and we as the branches. Consider that thealmond tree blossoms towards the end of the winter season (night season) and that Bridegroom comes like a thiefin the "night". Like the almond tree remaining watchful for the changes in the seasons, we are to remain alert andwatchful until he comes...which is what the word for almond means in the Hebrew (shaked-'watch'). And the shapeof our eyes give us a hint as to what we are to be watching! Also consider that the Righteous Branch is called thePrince of Peace. As the white blossoms fall to the ground 5-14 days after awakening, it is as if they are layingdown a white carpet for the coming of a Righteous King.

In the Word of God, people are compared to trees. The almond tree is known as the watchful tree. It is a humbletree. With the exception of the few weeks of blossoming, the almond tree has no comeliness. At harvest time it isbeaten to cause the seed to fall to the ground.

Holding on to the rod/branch

Moses and Aaron performed signs and wonders as long as they were holding on to the branch. The watersobeyed. Through the branch in their hand, salvation was brought to the children of Israel. When the RighteousBranch walked on the earth, the waters obeyed Him. The Righteous Branch brought salvation. The RighteousBranch performed signs and wonders. If we hold on to the Righteous Branch, then we too shall be able to performsigns and wonders. The Righteous Branch became the High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.

It was THE HIGH PRIEST who was responsible to keeping the light going. He alone dressed and trimmed thelamps. He alone was responsible for KEEPING THE LIGHT SHINING. The menorah is symbolic of the tree oflife. Remember the rod of Aaron, the first High Priest? It was used to perform signs and wonders. On oneoccasion it budded, flowered, and produced almonds overnight. Was there THE TREE OF LIFE at Golgatha?

What is seen in the vision called The Revelation after the door is opened in Heaven in Revelation 4:1?



Messiah/Christ (THE HIGH PRIEST according to THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK) is standing in "the midst ofthe menorah" in the throne room of Heaven! The 7 Lamps are ablaze with LIGHT! Are we seeing clues as to theSeason of the Blessed Hope? The menorah was based on the model of the 7 pronged menorah in Heaven.
