More than 700 of iMentor’s supporters and mentor-mentee pairs attended the Gala to celebrate the organization’s first 10 years of accomplishments and set the stage for the next 10 years. This event will honored iMentor’s founder and Board Chair John A. Griffin of Blue Ridge Capital. The event raised $3.8 million dollars.

In honor of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Final Draw announcement and the
US launch of the new FIFA Collections brand of apparel and accessories.
Total Apparel Group and South African Consulate General invited
guests for a cocktail reception and brand preview. The renowned chef
Marcus Samuelsson and his team at Paris Commune provided guests
with delicious aperitifs and each guest was treated to a glass of South
African wine. Actor Malik Yoba and a member of Grammy-nominated
duo Les Nubians were also in attendance.
The event began with a reception followed by speeches of the South
African Consulate General Fikile Magubane and Janon Costley, CEO of
Total Apparel Group and an afterwards performance of the Diski
Dancers. Throughout the evening drummers were playing to create a
South African ambience.

Morial The World Diversity Leadership Summit (WDLS) 3-day Summit, hosted diversity leaders from all over the world and addressed the key diversity challenges, trends and opportunities facing multinational corporations.
This Summit explored innovative global diversity solutions.
Glow Media had Mayor Michael Bloomberg proclaim July 9th as World Diversity Leadership Day. As a result, WDLS founder, Doug Freeman, along with sponsors rang the closing bell of NASDAQ on July 9th.
Randall Pinkett, winner of NBC’s the Apprentice was also on hand to host the UN reception.

A “Celebration of Diversity” dinner on Monday, May 12 at the Art Institute of Chicago was a historic coming together of alumni of Georgetown College (KY) and Bishop College (TX). The first-time event focused on the unique partnership between Georgetown College and Bishop College alumni; their successful efforts in renewing the spirit of Bishop College; and the recent creation of the Bishop Scholars Program. Georgetown College also unveiled the architectural model and renderings of the new Bishop College Center with the hope of breaking ground in the spring of 2009. The gala, which was hosted by Georgetown College president, Dr. William H. Crouch, Jr., was attended by business and civic leaders, leaders in higher education and college students. Georgetown College trustees Dr. Sheila Bailey and Dr. Major Jemison – both alumni of Bishop – assisted with bestowing Honorary Doctorates on two individuals for outstanding support of the Georgetown College and Bishop College partnership. Honoree Dr. John D. Mangram chaired the Division of Religion and Philosophy at Bishop College, serving as Dean of the Chapel from 1980 – 1985. His commitment and dedication to Bishop College was long-standing. Honoree Dr. Richard Rollins time at Bishop College was spent as the Coordinator for Church Relations, a Professor of Religion and Philosophy, Dean of the College and the Director of the L.K. Williams Minister’s Institute. Mr. Rollins is also a founder of Delta Sigma fraternity of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity at Bishop College in 1958.

Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) hosted Savor, celebrating the
outstanding culinary talents of some of New York’s finest French Chefs.
Savor offered a deliciously decadent four-course French-themed dinner
prepared by all-star chefs. Hosted by Bravo TV’s Top Chef and Queer
Eye for the Straight Guy’s Ted Allen, this year’s chefs include Galen
Zamarra of Mas (Farmhouse), Victoria Love of the Water Club, Jason
Hicks of Orsay, and Tony Aiazzi of Aureol. Kathryn Erbe of NBC's Law
and Order: Criminal Intent and Jay Manuel of America's Next Top Model
were in attendance.
The evening began with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed
by a formal dinner and an awards presentation. Savor created a new
twist to the traditional dinning experience by surrounding guests with
panoramic aerial views of images depicting French landscapes.

Dinner Gala is an annual event in which the organization bestows
its highest honors to individuals who embody the legacy of
Thurgood Marshall through their commitment to the Fund and its
mission. Awards include: the “Corporate Leadership Award”,
“Community Leadership Award”, “Education Leadership Award”
and “Alumni Leadership Award”. The event is traditionally
hosted by noted accomplished celebrities - most recent emcees
included Angela Basset and Diahann Caroll.

The Ashley Stewart Stores Community Foundation will celebrate its First Annual Benefit Gala “Back to Harlem” with a star studded event on Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Harlem’s World Famous Apollo Theater, 253 W 125th Street, New York. Three worthy organizations will be honored with charitable contributions raised by this event; Dress for Success, The Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund and The Boys Choir of Harlem. Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening is author and radio personality Wendy Williams of WBLS Radio and will include performances by founding board member and world renowned musical legend, Gladys Knight. The six-time Grammy Award winner has enjoyed #1 hits in pop, R&B and Adult Contemporary, and has triumphed in film, television and live performance. A special advanced preview of Gladys’s new lingerie collection “Knightwear by Ashley Stewart” will be unveiled. Other performers for this memorable evening include Lalah Hathaway, daughter of the late music legend Donny Hathaway, who possesses one of the most identifiable voices of her generation, Shirley Murdock, who calls up memories of a red-hot string of Top Five R & B and pop smashes that kept the airwaves buzzing from the mid-80s well into the early-90’s, Mandisa, The American Idol Finalist, who has performed with such artists as Shania Twain, Trisha Yearwood, Faith Hill and Charlie Daniels and The Boys Choir of Harlem, founded in 1968 by Dr. Walter J. Trunbull. Over the years the choir has grown from a small community choral group to a major performing arts institution of international renown.
